My family suffered a terrible experience bringing my loved one here for a procedure that required anesthesia. There were delays from the start because the doctor was not on site. I was instructed to stay within a 10 minute radius and told the procedure would be quick. I missed the call and immediately called back, but was unable to speak to anyone .After listening to the voicemail saying my loved one should be done in 20 minutes, I arrived within the requested timeframe. I wish they would have called me when she was done not when they think she could possibly be done. There was also no front desk receptionist to help assist me when I got there. I ended up waiting for a very long time up at the front wondering if they knew I was there. Once I was brought back, we waited over an hour to an hour and a half with little to no communication. We were placed in a shared recovery room separated only by a curtain, where we could clearly hear another patient’s private medical discussion, which raised serious concerns about patient privacy. We asked when the doctor would return to speak with us and explain the results. The nurses said they did not know. The doctor never came back to talk to us at all, and after waiting an excessive amount of time and having other time commitments, the nurses said we can leave without ever speaking to the doctor. My loved one is most upset about the doctor obviously not making an effort to come back and talk to her after the procedure he preformed on her. The part that made me the most uncomfortable unable to recommend this place to anyone was while waiting, we overheard nurses making comments and joking about another patient who was slow to open her eyes after anesthesia. One nurse rolled her eyes, and they joked about taping the patient’s eyes open with scotch tape. Hearing staff speak this way about a vulnerable patient was upsetting and unprofessional especially when majority of the time the patient spend is with the nurses. Between the excessive wait, lack of physician follow-up, compromised privacy, and inappropriate staff behavior, this experience fell well below acceptable standards of care. I would not recommend this facility.
The staff at Southwest Endoscopy and Surgicenter are different than any medical center I have visited. They answered all of my questions, and gave me time to ask them all. When talking to me they looked at me. Most places look at their computer or paperwork when talking to the patients, but not at Southwest. Here, I felt like a person, not a number. Thank you for taking such good care of me!
I never leave ratings. however, this was my first colonoscopy and I was super anxious and had the worst experience with the prep part. I was for sure afraid that I would be a nervous wreck or judged or whatever. however it was the complete opposite. every staff member was amazing! kudos to Tera, Kristen, Ray, Ashley L, Randy, Adair's and Lori (sorry if I got some names wrong) yall made the experience way better than I could have imagined. you were kind, attentive and made the day more calming
Sometimes the worst part about minor procedures in a surgery center is getting the IV placed in your wrist area. After one nurse couldn't find a good vein (due to me not being able to drink water, so a bit dehydrated), Gena Foshee came in and within 30 seconds and a very painless needle prick, she got me all hooked up, ready for my happy meds. I remember her from a previous procedure; how well she did the time before and was very grateful she was on the job. I know I can't request which nurse does the deed, but next time I might do so. All in all, a great experience!
The nurse with the red hair and the tattoos all over her arms should not be allowed anywhere near a human body with needles. She mutilated my hand trying to start my IV even though I told her not to go in my hand especially that hand because I know where I have the best veins. She thought she knew better than me. Her inability to properly start an IV caused me to go into shock and my body was convulsing prior to be putting under anesthesia. SO I WENT UNDER AN A STATE OF SHOCK WHICH CAN'T BE GOOD FOR ANYBODY. The only saving grace is an absolute angel named Ray who listened to what I had to say chose the correct vein based on my advice and I didn't even feel it when he started my IV. This man is a godsend. Ask for him each and every time you are there. Do not allow the redheaded woman with the tattoos to start your IV!!! She also has the most terrible bedside manner. She is an unpleasant person that clearly hates her job.
