Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Very nice folks. Everyone from check-in to the people helping pick out frames took time to answer questions and really seemed to care. Great place!

Terrible customer service at the reception desk. I provided my insurance when I scheduled the appointment. I discovered at checkout they don’t take my insurance. Then why wouldn’t they have said that when I scheduled???? I called my insurance and they do in fact accept my insurance. I paid out of pocket. They handed me a print out. I assumed it was my prescription but it was a receipt. I had to go back to pick up my prescription so I could go to another optometrist M&M Eye Care where I received excellent service from Casey. I recommend a hard pass with Rummel Eye Care!

Dr John Rummel is as good as get get. His testing is very accurate and he.'ll tell you exactly what you need. He referred me to Dr Shepard Bryan a retinal specialist to make sure my right eye was good to good for cataract surgery which I am having 9..1..20. The front staff are all great and friendly. Savannah my surgery coordinator spent 45 minutes going over everything. I recommend Dr John Rummel and their shop.

I have been a patient at Rummel Eye Care for approximately 12 years. The staff is friendly and professional. I always saw Dr. Meyer for my routine eye exams. I have been pleased with his care. I had cataract surgery a couple years ago in both eyes. Dr. John made me feel comfortable going into the procedure. I had unrelated issues with my eyes, to which he had me see a specialist to find out the problem. He followed up to see how I was doing. He also has a good sense of humor.

My husband had cataract surgery on one eye about 5 years ago and we both were very impressed with the care and professionalism of the entire staff at Rummel Eye Care. This year when my husband had to have the other eye done and I needed surgery on both eyes, we didn't hesitate, we drove two hours from Strawberry... to go to people we trusted. We are very happy with our results and highly recommend Dr. Mark and Dr. John Rummel and the wonderful staff!
