My husband had a surgery here last week. All the nurses were extremely kind and caring before and especially after his procedure. There was a delay in the schedule for the day and we ended up waiting an extra two hours to start his surgery even though we showed up early. The delay was not communicated to us until we asked what the hold up was. I also observed one of the surgeons completely disregard a patient’s concern about her recovery post-op. He wasn’t our surgeon, he was one of the eye surgeons, but he was extremely arrogant and rude to his patient who has valid concerns about her eye. The payment was also a little odd. They weren’t able to provide us with an itemized receipt so I had to explicitly ask what our payment would be covering (heads up it doesn’t cover any anesthesia). Overall a good experience and grateful we were able to get my husband’s surgery done.

I had my first surgery a few days ago here. My pre-op guy was amazing , post op nurse was also amazing, everyone was so nice and comforting because I was so nervous. I had the best experience & care from the moment I got there to the moment I was discharged! They took great care of me (:

I had my first ever surgery here a week ago and my experience was incredible! Each individual I came into contact with was so kind and helpful and supportive. My pre op nurse was Crystal and she was the absolute best! She went above and beyond to ensure I was as comfortable as possible. She is so caring and sweet and nurturing and was definitely meant to be a nurse and I am very grateful she was mine. My anesthesiologist was Dr. Bower and he was amazing. His experience in his field certainly shows. He was so personable and charismatic and funny, when you’re talking to him all your potential fears go away and you forget what you’re even there for. I wish I could remember more names but I’m sincerely thankful for everyone, from the front desk to the OR team. Hopefully I am as lucky for future surgeries.

I had surgery on 2/28 and had to pay the entire amount due before the surgery. However, I found out later that the amount I owed was about $800 less than what I paid. I called on 3/14 to request a refund. The billing department said they would start the process and mail me a check. I called back on 4/10 to follow up. The billing department said they failed to submit the paperwork for my refund but would start the process that day. The billing department says the refund process takes 4 weeks. The doctor and anesthesiologist bill after the procedure. They bill after they contact your insurance company so they bill you the correct amount. I'm not sure why Camp Lowell Surgery Center can't follow that same process. Hopefully I will get my refund this time.

I went for cataract surgery and from a medical standpoint, the service was fine. However, from a billing standpoint, the hassles I’ve had since my surgery has been such that I am strongly considering dropping the doctor (who is a part owner of the facility) to avoid having to receive service there again. I essentially had to pay my deductible three times. I paid my deductible to the provider before the date of the surgery, was required to pay again at the surgery center along with a co-pay, despite telling them that I had already paid the deductible to the provider, or I would not have been able to have the surgery. I later received a bill from anesthesiology and was actually required to pay the deductible to them because they were the ones that ended up submitting the claim first. It took several phone calls to my insurance company along with to the various billers in order to get my overpaid deductibles from the provider and Camp Lowell refunded back to me. Camp Lowell did end up refunding me, but they sent the check to the wrong address on top of it all and I still haven’t been reimbursed. While in the end, my balance will be correct, I have had to waste a lot of time in order to get my money back. Fortunately, I was able to work through this, but I can imagine that for a lot of people who have very high deductibles, something like this would be a total nightmare. I would make sure you know what your financial obligation, including how many parties are going to be billing for services, is ahead of time before scheduling any surgery there, especially if it at the beginning of the year or you are sure you have not met your deductible yet. I would add to this that the billing people I spoke to here on the date of the surgery were extremely rude to me. I don’t need this kind of hassle for something like a cataract surgery that should be fairly routine. Take caution if you are not sure about your finances when getting service there.
