Horrible service. Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center was listed on my insurance site as a preferred eye center so I booked online a contact fitting exam for myself And regular eye exam for my husband. The day before my appointment, I got a call from the office saying they do not do contact fittings despite option online. So I ended up booking an appointment elsewhere for myself and figured it would be safe to leave my husband’s appointment as is. His appointment was scheduled for Monday and when he arrived, he was told that his appointment was canceled or that something happened and it was not on the schedule. So they rescheduled his appointment for today. After making the drive for a second time, he went back, only to be told that they do not accept our insurance. And someone who works in healthcare and customer service there are a lot of missed opportunities that should’ve been caught. Their website needs to be updated to actually reflect that they do not do contact fittings. And like most facilities, they should run patient insurance to make sure they accept it before making them come up for the appointment not just once but twice. Even if they did accept our insurance, I would not go to refer anyone to this office.

I was squeezed in for an emergency appointment and got in 15 minutes earlier than my appointment. I saw Dr. Colton who was terrific; very warm and engaging, thorough in his explanations and very calm demeanor. I wish he was my eye Dr at home!! All the employees were friendly and receptive.

I saw Dr. Asota for evaluation of a corneal condition, and the experience was extremely upsetting. During the appointment, she noted that I also had a cataract in my other eye. When I asked about options for managing it in the future, she told me that because I am blind, the only treatment she would ever consider for me would be complete eye enucleation, and that she would not consider cataract surgery or other treatments. This was shocking to hear. I was not asking for vision restoration, only whether the cataract could be addressed if it eventually caused discomfort or other symptoms. I left the appointment feeling devalued and dismissed, as if my eyes and my wellbeing were viewed as “not worth” treating. It was a deeply dehumanizing experience. I later sought a second opinion from a cataract specialist, who told me the opposite: of course he would remove the cataract if and when it became symptomatic, with the understanding that it may not improve my vision. His approach was respectful, compassionate, and centered on my comfort and autonomy. That contrast made me realize how inappropriate and harmful the first interaction had been. I’m leaving this review so that other blind or disabled patients are aware that they may not receive the compassion or consideration they deserve here. Disabled people still deserve quality care, options, and respect. My experience at this clinic did not reflect that.

Love the doctor — seriously, he’s amazing. But if you’ve got an appointment here, clear your calendar, cancel your plans, and maybe pack a lunch (and dinner). I waited 2.5 hours — long enough to question my life choices and develop a deep spiritual connection with the waiting room magazines. Then comes round two: scheduling the next appointment. At that point, I’d aged a decade but at least got front-row seats to the best office drama in town. If you like your healthcare with a side of reality TV and plot twists, this is the place for you.

I brought a dear friend and long time patient. The receptionist, LaShay, was beyond rude and we witnessed her not helping patient after patient. Patients came in that couldn’t see and she told them to use the computer check-in. Some told her they have cataracts and couldn’t see to use the check-in system. She needs training on how to be kind and helpful! Very poor welcoming. Additionally these seniors do not want to wait 2-3 hours to be helped. This office is like a factory. No personal touches. Once we got past her everyone was professional and very helpful.
