Everyone was so nice. Going back on 1-10-2023 for surgery
Friendly and efficient staff.
Fantastic!!! SO much better than Enloe Outpatient, it isn't overcrowded! The best staff, from admin, nursing, and anesthesia. Doctors are top notch. They take the time to listen, and truly care. 5+ Stars!!!!
On June 11, 2018, I had surgery at Chico Surgery Center. This review has nothing at all to do with my surgeon - who was absolutely wonderful and I am more than happy with. This is solely regarding the surgery center and its staff. Everything I can recall leading up to surgery was totally normal. I felt I was taken appropriate care of and had appropriate attention from the staff as I was being prepared for my procedure. I do not know if the staff who was there at the end of my procedure was the staff who was with present as I was being prepped, as I was still asleep when I was sent off from my procedure. I was the last surgery of the day, and my surgery lasted into the early evening. Due to this, I believe the staff was in a hurry to go home, as I was rushed through the waking up/recovery process. I had an intense, long surgery, that I am still slowly recovering from 3 weeks later, and still have a long road of recovery ahead of me. I do not remember much about waking up from that surgery, which is odd to me. I have had a large number of surgical procedures where I was put under anesthesia (approximately ten) and have never had another experience where I was shoooed out so quickly after that I didn't even remember waking up. Other than what I was told by my family who was there waiting for me, and the photos my family took of me in the state I was sent out in upon discharge, I remember nothing since I was still asleep. I was still asleep when they dressed me, put me into the wheel chair, and put me into my vehicle. I do have photos that were taken by my family member showing this. I am VERY concerned at how I was treated as a patient. My family member was very concerned, telling me the manner in which I was dressed and moved around by the staff was "rough and somewhat careless." Apparently, there were some issues with my coming out of anesthesia and I developed intense shakes. They attempted to get my body shakes under control by giving me Demerol, which did not work. At that point, they gave me a double dose of Demerol. This stopped the shakes, but caused my oxygen levels to drop, so I was then oxygenated. As it has been relayed to me, as soon as they got my oxygen levels back up, rather than keeping me and monitoring me for a while to ensure I was okay and would wake up correctly with no further issues (as one would assume since I was presenting problems coming out of it), I was immediately dressed, put into a wheelchair, put into my vehicle, and sent off. I am appalled. Seeing the photos has been disturbing to me. As I stated before, I have had multiple surgeries and have never been treated this way post procedure. It should be again noted my surgeon was wonderful and I did notify him at my post-op the following day of what happened, as well as showed him photos of the state I was in upon discharge so he was aware of how his patients are being treated when working with that surgery center. I did let him know I was concerned in general with the way I was treated. I did also put this information into the survey sent to me by this facility afterwards, and I provided them my name and phone number and asked them to contact me. As of this date, I have received no contact from them. Surgery is taxing not only physically, but emotionally to most people. Especially when the surgery is something significant and time-consuming. The care given to patients not only beforehand, but afterwards, should be quality and standard. No matter what time of day or night, no matter how long the procedure takes. There should never be a question that those put in the position to ensure your care, comfort, and best interests are doing their job 100% . Due to the way my recovery and discharge from Chico Surgical Center was handled, I cannot recommend this facility to others and would highly suggest if you are considering having a procedure done here, that you have someone with you at all times to monitor how you are cared for afterwards.
