The Beautifully Kind Female Nurses Who Cared for Me are the Absolute Best that I Have Encountered Here On the Central Coast. The Office Staff that greeted me as I walked in were cordial and welcoming. The doctors need to keep a desk drawer full of chocolate for their staff (not that it’ll sweeten them up any more). Otherwise the Doctor’s are The Best that I have been in contact with here on the Central Coast. Oh yeah and the one male nurse was pretty good too. I Highly Recommend the Coastal Surgical Institute

Today was my second trip to Coastal Surgical Institute. This time I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. Every staff member from check in to preparation for procedure to the procedure itself was smooth. I checked in at 9:30 for a 10:30 procedure. The staff had me prepped in half an hour and I moved into surgery in about 20 minutes. Each step I felt heard. I have trouble with the automatic blood pressure cuff and asked for it to be positioned on my forearm. No problem. I was chilled and immediately received a couple of warm and wonderful blankets. The only thing I would change is I'd like to be able to talk about the time of the procedure. Very little flexibility there ane my ride has specific hours when she is available.

I am providing an updated review, as my previous assessment was three years ago. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was disappointing. The staff's demeanor was unfriendly, and I endured a lengthy wait of three hours before undergoing surgery. Additionally, I was uncomfortable walking past other patients to use the restroom while undressed for my hernia surgery. This situation caused me significant embarrassment and distress. I became tearful before the procedure and, upon regaining consciousness after anesthesia, was eager to depart. I believe the primary issue was the manner in which I was treated. In the future, I plan to seek hospital-based surgical care. The nurses' behavior was unprofessional, detracting from my overall experience.

The staff at the facility is very good, I am a repeat customer. In the past it was privately owned. Now its now under the umbrella of Dignity Health and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital which isn't that good in the patient advocate department. No response when I phone repeatedly. Of course this isn't the place to discuss my personal health, which I am not. Its about customer service which is lacking. I was referred to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital to share my experience, NOT Coastal Surgical Institute. So the "owner" is Dignity Health and clearly too big to care.

If your Dr or surgeon suggests they perform your out-patient procedure at Coastal Surgical Institute, don’t hesitate to say YES! From check-in to discharge, the process & staff operates like a well-oiled machine. I’ve had numerous surgeries there, as well as the “dreaded” colonoscopies, & I’m so amazed at the efficiency of this facility. I’ve yet to meet any staff that don’t treat you top-notch. When you are taken to the “holding room” (to prep before surgery), the nurses are polite, disciplined in their actions, & do their best to keep you calm before being wheeled back to surgery. You meet your Dr/surgeon, anesthesiologist & attending nurse BEFORE being wheeled back. In recovery, you’re greeted by a nurse who asks how you are feeling, gives you something to drink, asks if you’re ready to get dressed before being discharged & they call your ride home to say you are ready to be picked up. BEFORE you even head out the door, your Dr/surgeon comes by to share information about your procedures; you can ask questions & off you go. Today, only twenty-four hours after the procedure, they texted (or call) to check in on how you’re feeling. That’s TOP-NOTCH health care….. in my opinion.
