Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Epidural Steroid InjectionsSteroid medication is injected near irritated spinal nerve roots to calm inflammation causing sciatica or arm pain. Often used to make physical therapy tolerable rather than as a standalone cure. There are limits on how frequently they can be repeated.Nerve Block InjectionsAnesthetic, sometimes with steroid, is injected around a specific nerve to interrupt pain signals. Used both to treat pain and to identify its source, since relief from a precisely placed block points to the nerve responsible.Radiofrequency AblationHeat generated by radio waves disables the small nerves carrying pain signals from an arthritic spinal joint. Relief commonly lasts six months to two years. Because the nerves regenerate over time, the procedure can be repeated.Spinal Cord StimulationA device delivers mild electrical pulses to the spinal cord to interrupt chronic pain signals before they reach the brain. A temporary trial period is done first, so you can judge the benefit before committing to a permanent implant.Joint InjectionsSteroid or lubricating medication is injected directly into an arthritic or inflamed joint. Image guidance is often used to confirm placement. Relief typically lasts weeks to months and can make physical therapy more productive.Trigger Point InjectionsA local anesthetic is injected into a taut, tender knot of muscle to break the spasm-and-pain cycle. The appointment takes minutes and you can usually return to normal activity the same day.

You Just Can’t Find a Better Qualified Pain Specialist than Dr. Erlendson! I KNOW after suffering 34 years with Chronic Lumbar Spinal Pain After 6 Failed Spinal Surgeries Performed in Dubuque, Iowa, and The Dallas, Texas Area! I have been denied further surgeries leaving me no option but to see just about all pain doctors in Texas before moving to Palm Desert, CA in 2014! I even went through 6 pain doctors here in the Coachella Valley with one almost killing me with way too much or to strong of Morphine put in my “MEDTRONIC PAIN PUMP!” My The Grace of God, I was sent to Dr. Erlendson for surgery to replace my pump, which has to be replaced every, give or take, 5 years. The day after Dr. Erlendson did surgery, I learned my regular Pain Doctor had been RAIDED by The Federal Government and Shut Down Permanently! Dr. Erlenson’s was gracious enough to “ASK ME” if I’d like to stay with him! I DID and for the 1st time in 34 years, I was able to live WITHOUT PAIN AGAIN!! After being with one hundred plus doctors in the span, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, I am with the ONLY PAIN SPECIALIST I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE… THAT WOULD BE DR. ERLENDSON! PERIOD! 😁😉
