Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

As I was waiting the little gal at front desk was wonderful with the walk ins and as I was waiting I listened to her answering the phone. She was so polite, telling details of they had no insurance. The other gal was great and it’s the initial testing. Making sure everything wiped down and explaining. And the Dr Crume was very good. Although I didn’t get a happy dance. Quick and easy. On the way out checkout man asked if I needed glasses since my eyes were dialated .

I want to thank the staff at Shasta Eye Medical Group for the great service they all provided. Each and every one of them were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable in their field, caring, and the whole team worked well together. Dr. Bagga did a fantastic job on my cataract surgery. Can’t say enough for the work she did. Thank you all for your great work.

I arrived at my appointed time and was greeted by two female staff members at the receiving desk. They were polite, courteous , friendly and professional. After a last minute addition to my check-in procedure, I was seated in the waiting area for approximately ten minutes ( 1230pm appointment ) My name was called by a young gentleman named Patrick who whisked me through ALL the pre-lim protocols. Patrick was and is , the most professional, detailed and informative medical staff member in any facet of your industry that I have encountered. My wife was with me through out my appointment ( she is an APN ) and she too concurred that Patrick was " One of a Kind " . After seeing Dr Fox , his knowledge and practice goes without saying, I can see why your clinic is so busy. You run a great ship, my hats off to you and ALL your staff With all sincerity, Sammy

I am in the middle of a divorce after many years of marriage. I was so stressed and sad I couldn't follow through with my test knowing that the cost was going to be a lot. The choice and the decisions that I have to make were overwhelming and I couldn't stay so, I forgot her name, she told me to go ahead and go home and rest and take care of myself and when I was ready to call back and make an appointment and they would be here for me. I felt like a fool but she made me feel comfortable and not out of place thank you so much So I had my appointment and got scheduled and then found out that my ex delayed the money that was coming to me on purpose making my life more stressful and even more devastating knowing I couldn't get the lenses I needed. When I found out I called Shasta. Eye to let them know that I wasn't going to be able to get the lenses and that the only ones that I was going to be able to get were the ones that only corrected the cataract and not my vision. They said okay and decided to keep my dates, surgery dates and get the corrected lenses for my cataracts. About a week after this appointments were scheduled I got a call from Sheila and then Karen whom I played phone tag with both. When I finally was able to talk to one of them they told me that Dr vago chose me as a candidate for the lenses that I needed and it wasn't going to cost me anything because of the program that she put me on. Now I am waiting for my surgery and I am beyond grateful and very relieved. And quite honestly I am feeling blessed. Everything that could go wrong in the last year and 8 months has gone wrong. But because of the kindness and the empathy that Dr vago felt for me I will be able to see soon without glasses and I am beyond grateful. Thank you so much Shasta eye medical group! You guys are awesome and I love you so much you have no idea! Good things happen to people who need and there are good people out there who are empathetic and do care and help. And the people at Shasta eye medical group are among the best people I have ever met in my entire life! God bless all of you and keep up the good work!
