Nicole N. was one of my night nurses.. she was so caring, empathetic, and attentive. I can't say enough good things about her and want to express my gratitude. I wish all nurses followed in the way she treats her patients. Thanks Nicole N.! -Dominique

Provides high-quality care in an upscale coastal setting. Excellent for cardiovascular and orthopedic surgery. The environment is more relaxed and resort-like than a typical urban hospital. Nurses are attentive and professional. Valet parking eases access. A preferred choice for many in the San Diego region.

I arrived in SD through a work transfer when I was 35 weeks pregnant. My pregnancy ended up going to 41 weeks, and I was followed weekly by the hospital. I had the best birth experience I could have ever imagined. I can’t even begin to express my gratitude to all the nurses, the on-call obstetrician, the anesthesiologists, and the entire hospital team who treated me like a princess from the very beginning. As an immigrant in such a late stage of pregnancy, I was extremely afraid of how I would be treated and I truly could not have chosen a better place. It’s important to mention that even though I tried induction, they respected my pain limits and gave me anesthesia as soon as I asked. They also made the decision to take me to a C-section right at the point where my baby’s health in my womb required it. I had a small panic attack at the time of the C-section, and they calmed me down in the most beautiful, compassionate way. If you are here doing your research and feeling insecure about which hospital to choose, trust me - you will have the best possible experience.

The night nurses on duty for me after a cardiac ablation were cold, and unhelpful. No one ever asked me if I was in pain or helped me get off the bed to go to the bathroom several times during the night while I was being given diuretics to eliminate excess fluids from the procedure. Also,, I explained I was hard of hearing and not wearing my hearing aids, and the nurse simply shouted at me in a nasty accusatory way when I said I couldn’t hear what she had said… It was embarrassing and I was made to feel stupid and uncomfortable. I felt unsteady , am 79 years old and was experiencing severe pain. I almost felt guilty every time I had to call them to disconnect me so I could go to the bathroom.. I felt zero compassion or kindness. They did all of the necessary checks on my blood pressure, etc. just like robots. Also, when I was being prepped for the cardiac ablation, the nurses who came to shave me had me laying there completely exposed . Breasts out and pubic area, with two of the welcoming, ‘nurses’ or hosts just standing there,m chatting, looking down on me. It was a most embarrassing uncomfortable experience, Such unprofessional and disrespectful treatment. Complete disregard for me. The rule of thumb for nurses first of all is to be kind to the patient: that didn’t happen. I can understand that it is challenging to work at night as a nurse. But if this turns the care into such hostility, then it’s time to look for a different line of work!

This review is specifically for the Labor and Delivery Unit. They were absolutely wonderful. I am a first time mom and was absolutely terrified to go through labor and give birth. The nurses in the L&D unit were absolutely wonderful. They were kind, informative and took such good care of me. I am someone that is extremely embarrassed to show my private parts. But as you know with birth, that’s out the window. They made me feel extremely comfortable. You could tell they do the job day in and day out. I didn’t have a set birthing plan or take any labor classes and the nurses really just walked me through everything while I was there. Up to the breathe work with pushing. The anesthesiologist for the epidural was very gentle and again my nurse was amazing in this moment and helped me get through the anxiety of getting the epidural. I could go on about many different scenerios where they were just wonderful. If I have more babies, I am 100% delivering here.
