Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Epidural Steroid InjectionsSteroid medication is injected near irritated spinal nerve roots to calm inflammation causing sciatica or arm pain. Often used to make physical therapy tolerable rather than as a standalone cure. There are limits on how frequently they can be repeated.Nerve Block InjectionsAnesthetic, sometimes with steroid, is injected around a specific nerve to interrupt pain signals. Used both to treat pain and to identify its source, since relief from a precisely placed block points to the nerve responsible.Radiofrequency AblationHeat generated by radio waves disables the small nerves carrying pain signals from an arthritic spinal joint. Relief commonly lasts six months to two years. Because the nerves regenerate over time, the procedure can be repeated.Spinal Cord StimulationA device delivers mild electrical pulses to the spinal cord to interrupt chronic pain signals before they reach the brain. A temporary trial period is done first, so you can judge the benefit before committing to a permanent implant.Joint InjectionsSteroid or lubricating medication is injected directly into an arthritic or inflamed joint. Image guidance is often used to confirm placement. Relief typically lasts weeks to months and can make physical therapy more productive.Trigger Point InjectionsA local anesthetic is injected into a taut, tender knot of muscle to break the spasm-and-pain cycle. The appointment takes minutes and you can usually return to normal activity the same day.

Beware! This place is awful! If you think this is the only place to go, think again and go see a different pain specialist. These are people who are only here to show up, do their job, and go home. They could care less about the patients. Not to mention they’re inconsiderate and horrible with scheduling. It takes us an hour to get to San Luis as we live in the country. My husband had a 1:30pm appt. We get there and they tell us they’re running behind, it’ll be 30 minutes. Okay, that’s fine. They then call me to tell me that my husband is ready to be picked up… ummm he hasn’t even been seen yet? She calls me back to then tell me it’ll be another 30-45 minutes, 3-1/2 hours later and he’s not even seen yet!! Not to mention he had been fasting ALL DAY w/o food or water. Other people in the waiting room had been waiting the same amount of time. THATS BAD! How are they able to get away with this? It’s very unprofessional. When I called Pacific Pain Physicians to tell them of this, the receptionist talked over me and acted like that wasn’t her problem, zero sympathy. These people are a joke and don’t care about your well being. Save your time/energy and go somewhere else!

I've had two procedures at Valhalla Surgery Center and both experiences were excellent. The staff was professional and efficient and the doctors and anesthesiologists were amazing. I highly recommend.

They are routinely late by hours and skip people in line. If they weren't the only place like this around here I'd go somewhere else.
