Update: July, 2025 That expression "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" applies perfectly here. After my miserable experience with the anesthesiologist a few years ago (I found out that her name is Dr. Chamberlin), I unfortunately, under the care of a different doctor, was scheduled for another procedure here. This time I was proactive. I called the surgical center, explained that I would only schedule with them if I could be put to sleep with the mask, discussed what happened the last time, and was assured there would be no issue. On the morning of, I was in the gown, in the area (where there is limited privacy with just a curtain so everyone can hear everything - I was able to clearly hear very private conversations between other patients and the personnel) when the anesthesiologist, Dr. Devin Borna came in. He proceeded to lecture me and talk to me extremely loudly and in the most awful and condescending tone about being put to sleep with the mask., Every time I tried to say something he talked over me. He would not let me speak. Everyone in the presurgical area heard, including a nurse who was standing a few feet away looking extremely uncomfortable. I had to tell Dr. Borna several times to remove himself from my space and that he was not to be involved in my procedure at all before he finally huffed and left. I then told the nurse to cancel the procedure. She ended up getting the administrator who was lovely and assigned a new anesthesiologist. My experience with Dr. Borna was horrific. No medical professional should EVER speak to a patient that way. And to think that I trusted them when I called in advance and they told me the experience would not be repeated. This was even worse than Dr. Chamberlin. I hope that they have forced both of these doctors to familiarize themselves with patient autonomy, patient privacy, and the acceptable tone to use. My 2023 review: Note: I edited to change "hospital" to "surgery center" as, in spite of their attempt to wiggle out of this review, my miserable experience was definitely at the West Hills Surgical Center located at 7240 Medical Center Drive in West Hills, CA. (Nice try though to try to make it seem like I had the wrong place.) If I could give zero stars I would. I had the very unfortunate experience of having a procedure at this surgery center. I have had several surgeries (not at this center) and every anesthesiologist has gracefully accommodated my request to be put under with the mask and to have the IV inserted after I'm asleep. The anesthesiologist here was rude, belittling, and made a point of saying "we only do that for babies and small children". She ended up agreeing after a lot of eye rolling and sighing. I have NEVER had an experience like this. When I woke up I was in extreme pain and the nurses said to go home and take some tylenol then they forced me to get up and walk to my husband's car. I could hardly move and they wouldn't even wait until I got my bearings and felt a little better. I hope I never have to set foot in this place again.

From the person who checked me in to the nurses in recovery, everyone here was incredibly nice, thoughtful, and professional. The center has a clear structure in place, and everything went like clockwork. I was very impressed and very appreciative of the care I received here.

Today I had a colonoscopy here. I arrived at 6am to check in and everyone was chipper, helpful and decked out in Halloween costumes. Intake organized and prompt. Next step nurse’s prep. Very informative, great disposition. Then the anesthesiologist who explained exactly what would happen and then the doctor did the same. As projected, I was in and out within 2 1/2 hours. Sounds crazy I know but truly a great experience!
