Excellent Technology very poor customer interface on billing as well as poor execution with insurance. Avoid if possible. On a hunch I started the discuss between BSS and UMR insurance to pre-empt any problems. That didn’t work. Now 8 weeks post surgery I am still running interference, rejecting erroneous bills, etc. As verified to me by phone they pre bill patients and offer back refunds after insurance pays. I’ve never been asked to prepay other than the copay my insurance requires.
Doctor & nurses were great. Unfortunately accounting is not good… watch your bill! They cashed our check, then still tried to charge our account for the total amount after it was paid in full. The person I talked to just said there was no way for her to figure it out.
A Catastrophe of Care at Boulder Center for Orthopedics My experience at Boulder Center for Orthopedics was not just disappointing; it was a horrifying ordeal that exposed a culture of negligence and contempt for patients. The most alarming instance of this negligence occurred when, after an initial consultation, I was informed that I didn’t require surgery. However, just three days later, the center called back in a complete turnaround, stating that surgery was necessary. It turned out the surgeon hadn’t even reviewed my CT scan initially, a gross oversight that speaks volumes about the center’s carelessness and lack of regard for patient wellbeing. ‘Alvin’, a staff member, further embodied the worst of this culture. His actions weren’t just unprofessional; they were aggressively offensive. Displaying blatant homophobia, he mocked my gestures in a crude caricature of my sexuality, an act so vile it left me speechless. His incompetence was dangerously highlighted when he incorrectly applied a splint on the wrong side of my arm, a mistake that could have had serious medical repercussions. His decision to laugh in my face was the epitome of disrespect and calls for nothing less than his immediate termination. The front desk staff’s continuous rudeness added to the center’s toxic atmosphere, but the behavior of a nurse in the surgery center was outright abusive. She not only failed in her duty by neglecting vital pre-operation information but also subjected me to verbal abuse. Her audacity to demand an apology, trapping me in an exam room via Dr. Kollitz, is unacceptable. The inefficiency peaked when, after an extensive wait for a back consultation, they abruptly canceled my appointment, citing the doctor’s unavailability to take new patients—a clear sign of the center’s dysfunctional management. Despite numerous assurances from Marcie and Ratha, the managers, to rectify these issues, there has been zero accountability. This inaction speaks volumes about the systemic failure at Boulder Center for Orthopedics. I am beyond appalled and outraged. The level of unprofessionalism and inhumanity I faced is beyond forgiveness and should be met with immediate and stern consequences. I implore anyone in need of orthopedic services to avoid this facility at all costs. A center that allows such atrocious behavior, especially from individuals like Alvin, is a center that fails not just its patients, but the very principles of healthcare. While very few staff members like Megan Cousins were commendable for their expertise and kindness, the overall experience was deeply troubling. Edit: Furthermore, in an appalling turn of events, following my honest review detailing the unacceptable experiences at Boulder Orthopedic Center, I received a letter from them(Dr. Kollitz, do not ever visit her!). This letter was not only rude and threatening in tone but also informed me that I would no longer be provided with medical care at their facility. This retaliatory response to a patient’s legitimate feedback is not only unethical but also deeply concerning, further underscoring the lack of professionalism and respect for patient rights at this center.
When it comes to the medical service they provide, it is top-notch. When it comes to the billing and administrative, not so much - hence why I docked 1 -star. They got the bill wrong, several times. I knew exactly how much it was supposed to be from speaking with my insurance company, and it took months to straighten out. I honestly started ignoring the bills. Once they amount was correct, I was told I could make payments, which I immediately started to do...and then received an "overdue notice". SMH! Figure out your processes, because all of this contributes to the customer experience. Make it easy on patients, integrate and better communicate with the Orthopedic center - It's obvious there is a not-so-subtle financial interest, so why can't I clearly see comprehensive charges for my services, go to one place to pay my bill (even if they are separate legal entities and I would need to pay as such). Be proactive in working with a patient's insurance company. If the Orthopedic center gets the financial kickbacks, make it easy on the patient, who's recovering from surgery.
When I broke my hand, I thought it was going to give me problems for the rest of my life, but Boulder Surgery Center re-set the bone and it's as good as new! They did an incredible job, but KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS! I went there in person and made sure I paid everything I owed, then they called me six weeks later trying to get me to repay what I'd already paid. To be fair, this happened in 2017 and I don't know if they've remedied their billing department, and when I told them it was their problem to solve they stopped bothering me.
