It is impossible to speak to anyone to get an appointment. I called today and got cut off after waiting 17 minutes of listening to the worst music ever. When I called back and again listened to bad music it continued to tell me I was #1 in the que for 35 minutes still without talking to a human. After 35 minutes I left a call back request and still after 6 hours have not heard from anyone. This is not the first time I have had issues with scheduling.
Had an appointment for 3pm the following day. They called and wanted to move it up. I was told no eating 24 hours before. When they called to confirm , I was told I shouldn’t have ate. When stating it was more than 36 hours. The instructions over text are different from what they confirm on the phone. I had to cancel my appointment and now we’ll be going somewhere else.
To echo the frustrations of many other reviewers, the billing process is a joke. I sent a question back to their "Insurance Verifier" before the procedure and never received a response. So I had to fork over $1,100 on day of procedure (I was having a routine colonoscopy- should be covered in full by insurance; and an endoscopy, which is what I was in theory paying for). 3 weeks after procedure I received my UHC EOB that says I should only have paid $638. I stopped into the facility to be told that they'd send a message to billing who would call me. After a week with no call I called the number on their website- it's not their billing number. It took me to the anesthesiologist's billing dept, who said I didn't have a balance. Tried a number they gave me and that took me back to my Dr's office. Then my Dr's office gave me a 3rd phone number which was a 3rd party who handles Lakewood's billing- finally the "right" place. Only she didn't see any info on the claim and said it was still with Lakewood. How did Lakewood run a pretreatment estimate, charge me over $1,000, over a month ago and nothing was with their billing department? She told me to try back in 2-3 more weeks. I'm not optimistic this will end well... Btw, while the procedure went fine but I have two medical issues- first and foremost, as soon as I came out of the anesthesia I had a nurse in my face barking orders at me- no coffee, no red wine, no chocolate, etc. FOREVER! No real counseling or explanations. Second, I was harassed almost daily leading up to the procedure by GIFT pharmacy who wanted to sell me some sort of prescription prep. I told them repeatedly that I didn't want it and they kept calling and texting. Super annoying and I had no warning from the Dr or facility.
The procedure was fine, but I made a payment at this center the day of my appointment which I was told was the only payment needed. It has been 3 months since I had my procedure and I receive an email bill that shows no payment has been received. I have reached out to the billing department as well as the email the form, but continue to receive emails/texts, etc. about paying a bill.
I read reviews regarding other facilities. Some were appalling. There were NOT any red flags about Lakewood Endoscopy Center. So I made my appointment. This place is run as it should be. The people are friendly. They expressed genuine concern about my being there and explained the process thoroughly. They took me in right on schedule and had finished the procedure in the time frame that I was told previously. My wife was in the waiting area to take me home and was by my side as they woke me up. The doctor discussed the results very thoroughly, even though it wasn’t what I wanted to hear. I am very confident that they will contact me in a few days to let me know what happens next. They said that they want to see me again in 6 months. I’m actually looking forward to it. Hopefully, I’ll get an all clear.
