Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

I arrived early to my 2pm appointment. One of the patients approached the front desk and respectfully notified the lady that he had been waiting 45 minutes past his appointment and the desk clerk snapped back at him rudely that he has to wait and that there are people before him. She then left at about 1:50 and didn’t come back for the duration that I was there. My appointment was at 2pm and I wasn’t seen until 3:30. Not even a “I’m sorry we are backed up, you might wait another hour past your appointment.” Instead the desk clerk disrespects the patients and disappears. The chairs were also very uncomfortable, especially having to sit there for two hours. That being said, the nurse staff, anesthesiologist, and the doctor were outstanding and my procedure went well. I was very happy with everything except the service at the front. If you are willing to put up with disrespect in the lobby then this is the place for you. Unfortunately I didn’t get her name but I truly hope that the receptionist faces some sort of repercussions for her horrendous service.

Dr. Zalepuga and all his staff are amazing!! I was very impressed by his professionalism and patient care ethics during my endoscopy procedure last week. The staff are incredibly welcoming, kind, and careful with their patients. They were so warm and caring that I was able to relax and feel comfortable. This surgery center is very clean and organized, and the ambiance is very positive. I will definitely recommend Dr. Zalepuga if you are looking for a very knowledgeable and excellent gastroenterologist. You will not be disappointed.

I read the reviews before I went and was a little nervous. To my surprise, from the moment I walked in , the receptionists greeted me kindly. I went to Prep and Recovery, the nurses were the ABSOLUTE sweetest! Then off to go get my Endoscopy! The Angel who held my hand, the Sweet Anesthesiologist and the awesome nurse from Ukraine were Absolutely Superb!!!! If you are thinking about coming here for a procedure, you will be blown away from the Compassion and attentiveness. Thank you Ladies! May God bless each one of you! Love in Christ, Shannon

I have nothing but good things to say about my procedure today. The nurses and staff made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Check-in was easy and straightforward. They explained the process very well as this was my first ever procedure and being put under anesthesia. Before I knew it, it was finished. They even let my fiancée come back as I was waking up. The staff and anesthesiologist made everything a breeze. Thank you to all!
