I had surgery at Jacksonville Surgery Center on 9/5/2024 and it turned into the worst medical experience of my life. Within days of the procedure, I developed a massive infection that lab tests confirmed was pseudomonas aeruginosa—a bacteria most often linked to hospitals and surgery centers when proper sterilization procedures are not followed. Over the next three months, I endured: • Multiple emergency surgeries, implant removal, and drain placements. • 3.5 months of nonstop antibiotics with horrible side effects. • Severe rash, fainting spells, ambulance transport, and ER visits. • Loss of my job, thousands of dollars in medical bills, and lasting physical damage. When I tried to raise concerns with the facility manager, Candy Davis, she was dismissive, cold, and unprofessional. I asked to see sterilization records from around my surgery date—she flat out refused, saying “I do not have to provide those to you.” She also refused to even consider an internal investigation or reimbursement for the damages I suffered. Instead of compassion or accountability, I was treated like I was an inconvenience. My health, finances, and quality of life have been permanently impacted, and I now live with disfigurement and uncertainty about my future. In my opinion, this facility should be investigated for its sterilization practices and management. I would not recommend anyone risk their health here.
