Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Knee ArthroscopyA camera and small instruments are inserted through incisions the size of a buttonhole to repair cartilage, trim a torn meniscus, or remove loose fragments. Because the joint is not opened fully, recovery is far faster than traditional open knee surgery.Shoulder ArthroscopyUses a small camera and instruments through tiny incisions to repair the shoulder joint — commonly for impingement, labral tears, or damaged cartilage. Most patients go home the same day and begin physical therapy within the first week.ACL ReconstructionRebuilds the torn anterior cruciate ligament using a graft, since a fully torn ACL does not heal on its own. The surgery itself is outpatient, but returning to cutting and pivoting sports typically takes nine to twelve months of structured rehabilitation.Rotator Cuff RepairReattaches torn tendons in the shoulder to the bone. Pain relief often comes well before strength does — a sling is typical for several weeks and full recovery commonly takes four to six months, with physical therapy doing much of the work.Carpal Tunnel ReleaseCuts the ligament pressing on the median nerve at the wrist to relieve numbness, tingling, and night pain in the hand. The procedure takes about 15 minutes under local anesthesia. Night symptoms often improve immediately; grip strength returns over several weeks.Joint ReplacementDamaged joint surfaces are replaced with implants, most commonly at the knee or hip. Once exclusively a hospital procedure, selected healthy patients now have this done at surgery centers and go home the same day with a structured recovery plan.
Bunion Correction (Bunionectomy)The bony prominence at the base of the big toe is removed and the bone realigned, often with screws or plates. Recovery involves weeks in a protective shoe or boot, and swelling can persist for several months.Hammertoe CorrectionA toe permanently bent at the middle joint is straightened, sometimes with a temporary pin holding the correction. Considered when the toe rubs painfully in shoes or has developed calluses and sores.Plantar Fascia ReleaseThe tight band of tissue along the bottom of the foot is partially released to relieve stubborn heel pain. Reserved for cases that have not improved after months of stretching, orthotics, and other conservative treatment.Ankle ArthroscopyA small camera and instruments treat problems inside the ankle joint — impingement, loose fragments, or damaged cartilage — through incisions a few millimeters wide, avoiding a larger open exposure.Ingrown Toenail RemovalThe edge of a nail growing into the surrounding skin is removed under local anesthesia. When the problem keeps recurring, the nail-forming tissue at that edge is also treated so it does not grow back.Foot Fracture RepairBroken bones in the foot are realigned and stabilized with hardware so they heal in position. Because the foot bears your full weight with every step, alignment matters more here than the small bone size suggests.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review I wanted to wait until after my second procedure before writing a review—just to be absolutely sure—and I can confidently say the SurgCenter of Greater Jacksonville is truly exceptional! From the front desk team to the nurses and anesthesia staff, every part of my experience was amazing. The nurses—Sonja, Susan, and Tracy—were incredible during both of my surgeries. They were kind, attentive, and truly helped ease any nerves I had. Heather and Jim, who handled my anesthesia, made me feel completely comfortable and taken care of. I felt great both times thanks to their professionalism and expertise. Both operations went smoothly, and I’m so thankful to this entire team for providing such outstanding care. If you’re looking for a surgery center that is organized, compassionate, and highly skilled, this is the place. 10/10 would recommend!

Yesterday I received knee surgery at SurgCenter. The first treat was the smiling face at the front desk that I wish I remembered her name for her friendliness! I was introduced to my pre-op RN named Nancy that, in the process of her completing my pre-op interview and prep, made me feel like I’d made a new friend. Diane later introduced Dr. Song who would be my anesthesiologist, also friendly, laughed at my bad sense of humor, and was thoroughly informative. Dr. Song administered to me the “Happy Juice” with a promise of feeling like I’d had a few glasses of fine wine! Guess I fell asleep before that feeling! Doctor Tod Northrup was my doctor who’d been able to get me to surgery significant sooner than I expected, was my surgeon and who gets 10 out 5 Stars same as I’d give all the staff at SurgCenter. Lydia was part of the operative staff that eased every anxiety as she reviewed the process and wheeled me into the operating room for what turned out to about an hour and a half nap. Finally, I was brought back from dreamland by Haley, who I tried to convince to get me a burger since the last time I’d eaten was the prior day. Best she could do was a ginger ale and peanut butter crackers, but she’s still a hero for helping my wife and gather myself and help wheel me out to the car for my ride home. All in all, my experience at SurgCenter was AWESOME from start to finish! Thank you all!

Very attentive staff, well organized and operating staff was hilarious. Nurses were really friendly and professional. My only negative was that my appointment was at 130 and I sat in a hospital bed until I saw the doctor at 330pm.
