To have empathy is to be able to put yourself in someone's place and understand how they are feeling. And to have compassion is to express the understanding that allows you to be empathetic. To find these two qualities in one human being, is a blessing. To find these two qualities in a group of people, is a true gift. This was my great fortune when, at the Surgery Center at Jensen Beach, I met and was cared for by the incredible staff of nurses, doctors, surgical technicians, patient advocates, and assistants. Pre-admit callers included Peggy, Juanita, Debbie, and Amanda. Coordinators are Corrine and Collette, and Registration contact is Kirsten. All work hard to accommodate the many and varied demands of patients hoping for a good experience. Then I met Pre-Op nurse, Lucy, a beautiful human being, excelling in compassion and empathy, a highly-skilled and dedicated professional. She explained the process, listened to concerns, and was comforting and understanding while she expertly and gently started the necessary IV, returning often to check on me. Sara and Diane were kind and competent assistants. Dr. Jarrell is the expert anesthesiologist who introduced himself, then asked non-intrusive, important questions, necessary and pertinent to ensure proper administering of medicine. He was gentle and kind, with a great sense of humor. Of course, Dr. Pare, the wonderful eye surgeon, was there, always kind and reassuring. Mariola, the OR Circulator nurse, and the patient's primary advocate, was kind and helpful. Alberto, CRNA, the highly-skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, was compassionate and friendly. Michelle, the surgical tech, was there to ensure patient safety. Stephanie and Karen were the nurses who provided post-anesthesia care in the recovery room. All of the fine people who worked diligently to make both of my eye surgeries a positive experience, were talented, attentive, focused and serious about their medical responsibilities, while being kind and considerate with excellent communication skills. They demonstrated being highly motivated to do their best, and showed confidence in their ability to do so, with the highest regard for the patient. It was most significant and impressive how everyone worked together, like an extremely well- rehearsed production where each player entered the scene, on cue, precisely when needed, and then stayed until the procedure was expertly and accurately completed. The surgery in my other eye was performed and executed with the same precision and excellent care as the first surgery. The Surgery Center at Jensen Beach has a most incredible surgical team consisting of the highest quality human beings and professionals. Thanks to all of you.

Nurse anesthetist Amber that works here is such a caring and wonderful miracle worker! She made my 3 year old so comfortable during his little procedure, she literally deserves a raise and a medal! Dr Erickson is also pretty great, but I can’t say enough good things about Amber! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making that so easy for Eli and me.

My husband had a procedure done there. I have to say that from check in until discharge the staff was great! He had a prep nurse and a recovery nurse and then a discharge nurse. They all were very good and explained exactly what was going on. This made an uncomfortable situation a lot more bearable and he left saying it was definitely a positive experience. If I need something done I’d definitely go there.
