Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Great care. Great people. Just the doc was a tad bit late but that’s to be expected with the bus schedules everyone has. Appreciative of the help and well being concern as I had an opportunity to observe the staff interact with several other patients, and each other …

The staff was great, my pre-op nurse was very nice and professional. My procedure nurse Albert and my CRNA Monique were the best and made me feel very comfortable. And of course my RN after the procedure was also very nice and attentive. Overall I had a great experience. Thank you to the facilities and their employees and of course Dr. Martel was awesome. Thank you again

Dr. Alfredo Rabassa exemplifies what exceptional healthcare looks like. His professionalism, clarity, and genuine care inspire confidence and trust. He takes the time to listen, communicates with respect and excellence, and leads with both expertise and empathy. It’s rare to encounter a physician who balances such a high level of skill with true human connection. I am deeply grateful for the experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Baptist Health Endoscopy Center and Dr. Rabassa to anyone seeking outstanding medical care delivered with integrity and compassion. From the moment you walk in, there is a clear sense that patients truly matter and that every detail has been thoughtfully considered. Was even able to pick the music I wanted played during the pre-procedure.

From the moment I registered the day before, I felt truly cared for. The team was attentive, communicative, and reassuring, calling me promptly and making sure I felt informed every step of the way. When I arrived, everyone was kind, professional, and welcoming. A special thank you to Lesly, my nurse—she was compassionate, attentive, and made an otherwise stressful experience feel calm and comfortable. Dr. Ferrer and staff were equally wonderful, efficient, and supportive. The way patients are treated here truly speaks volumes about the quality of care and professionalism of the entire team. I’m very grateful for such a positive experience and highly recommend this facility.
