I had an extremely negative experience with New Port Richey Surgery Center and would not recommend this facility. In September, I arrived on the day of my scheduled septoplasty with turbinate reduction and was told that my insurance benefits had been verified and that no prior authorization was required. While sitting in the waiting room, I contacted my insurance myself and was informed that prior authorization was required. Neither my ENT provider nor the surgery center had obtained it, despite claiming benefits were verified. As a result, my surgery was canceled the same day and pushed out to December 19. This reschedule was incredibly upsetting, as it falls just days before Christmas and during my first child’s first Christmas. This delay was completely avoidable and caused unnecessary stress. What made the situation worse was the behavior of the surgery center’s manager, who told me it was my responsibility to verify my insurance benefits. That statement is completely inaccurate. It is the responsibility of the provider and the surgery center to verify benefits and obtain required authorizations, not the patient. The lack of communication and professionalism continued leading up to my rescheduled surgery. When contacted to review pre-op requirements, staff could not confirm whether authorization was on file, forcing me once again to contact my insurance myself. When I later called back after missing a call about my appointment time and asked a few simple questions regarding my medications, I was met with a rude and dismissive response instead of basic courtesy or assistance. Overall, this surgery center demonstrated poor communication, lack of accountability, and unprofessional behavior. Had I known this is how patients are treated, I would have chosen a different surgery center. This entire experience has been stressful, frustrating, and completely unacceptable. UPDATE: Today was my procedure and let me just say everyone that prepped me for surgery were truly outstanding and so very kind. Those in the OR were just as amazing. I’m going to update my review to 4 stars but only because I had a completely difference experience today. I would come back to this surgery center but I will always double check with my insurance for any procedure in the future. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors, you all are rockstars! I do wish the nurse who wheeled me out to my husband would have went over my discharge instructions.

First time at this facility. The service provided from the check in until the discharged was fantastic. Everyone was great, professional and caring. The receptionist didn't got her name but she is from other country and have a beautiful accent it was very nice and professional. Nurse Kate makes me feel safe and at ease. Kate helped me prep and did the IV, she was very sweet, professional and kind. When I waked up in recovery Brandi was there making sure I was ok with a huge smile. Brandi was caring and very sweet as well. Thank you all who in any way or other was taking care of me Dr. Allison, Ferni, Elaine. Also, facility was very clean. Great job NPR Surgery Center.

I had a family member having a procedure here and when called to pick them up. My husband was told to be there in 30 minutes. He explained he was in the middle of feeding of our infant and he would be there as soon as possible. The staff member of the phone stated he needed to be there now and he again explained he would be there as soon as possible. The staff member replied well you knew they were having this procedure today.

I had a great first surgery experience at this facility. Everyone was very kind, professional, and made me feel comfortable. The preop nurse got my IV on the first attempt and I have terrible veins so that’s very impressive! The nurse anesthetist addressed every concern I had giving me medication for reflux/nausea and anxiety before going into the procedure which alleviated a lot of my stress. I woke up from my procedure feeling cozy under warm blankets with my post op nurse at my bedside tending to my every need. They had me in an out in a relatively short time but I was also the first case of the day. I would definitely recommend this facility to others who need outpatient surgical services.

I don’t understand why this place has a 3.7 rating. It should definitely have 5 stars! I had a procedure done today and my experience was by that the best I’ve ever had. Dr. Smith my Obgyn, Dr. Allison the anesthesiologist and his whole team, my nurse Brandy, all of them were absolutely wonderful! I am terrified for general anesthesia and they all were so nice and understanding with my anxiety/panic about it. Made everything so easy. If I ever have to have another procedure done, I hope I get the option to choose them! Thank you, so much you guys!
