Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Disappointed with experience. Checked in for coloscopy and waited more than 1 hour. No explanation of why they were behind. When called back nurse not friendly. Doctor was fine but I wouldn't pick this location

DO NOT GO HERE! They do not practice "good faith estimate" as is required by law. It's repulsive how they take advantage of people seeking care.

Do not go here, while Dr. Powell and the nursing staff are great, the billing to insurance is a disaster. What should be a 100% covered preventative colonoscopy, is now a $2500+ out of pocket expense. It is next to impossible to get any one on the phone to assist and they do not call back when you politely ask for a return call. Save yourself the stress and go with an office who can handle the task of medical billing correctly.

Based on other reviews I should have stayed away. I am having similar experiences with billing. They make you prepay for agreed upon services and then continue to bill other things that were not agreed upon for the next 8 months. Over billing and double billing insurance.

DO NOT GO THERE! I had surgery there in December 2024 and was called a few days before to prepay a deposit for my surgery or the surgery would be canceled. I contacted my insurance and they sent me the amount that I should expect to pay due to my deductible which was much lower. Day of surgery front desk said they could not verify this and I paid the higher amount. My insurance paid the Surgical Center in January and now in April I continue to wait for my refund. I started calling them in January and continue to call them every few weeks and I have still not been refunded. As a retired RN I can say this is a form of medical malpractice by the Cypress Surgical Center.
