Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

I go to Woodham's for my annual eye exams, but they offer a variety of other services and procedures. The staff has always been very pleasant and professional. Dr. Shetty is very knowledgeable and her personality is quite lovely. I drive from across town, bypassing other vision centers to get to Woodham's, but it's well worth it.

Great experience from techs doing prep eye exams to Dr. Shetty doing “installation”. I had light adjustable lenses put in as recommended after past RK. Dr. Shetty dialed each lens in and no starburst (great night vision as desired). Appointments were easy and also assisted with financing. I look forward to “seeing” them for my annual check up. Thank you Woodhams.

I went to Woodhams for a second opinion on cataract surgery. Though they said everything was covered by Medicare and by my secondary insurance, I was charged up front $165. No worries. My issue is they keep sending me a bill. Every month since September I have gotten a bill. Every month I call and talk to Kim. Every month she says to ignore the bill. Then I get another. And so on. Feels like that Tom Cruise movie where he keeps repeating the same day over and over. So, if this is representative of their attention to detail, I'd avoid them. Acct# 44921

First of all, please know that Dr. Woodhams has retired and no longer owns the clinic. So, it is a Woodhams in name only. I had my annual eye exam done here, as I have been doing it for a few years at Woodhams. I was charged $45 to get a prescription. This is highway robbery. Do I have to pay for a printed copy of my prescription? Its not i have a choice. I paid the $45 and then took my prescription to Costco. There is no date on the prescription so they cant sell me eyeglasses. I have to make a second trip to pick up my prescription again and they better not charge me $ 45 again for a job half done. If you just need a routine eye exam and glasses there are plenty of options right in that area. Thomas Eye Group has two locations in Sandy Springs right down the street from them. These doctors needs to realize customers have a choice and they will go where they are treated right. Clean up your act before you start loosing more clients.

I put off getting Lasik done for many years and like most people say - so glad I did it! My eyes are very squinty and problematic to keep open but the doctor kept working on it and really did her best to make it work - which it did wonderfully in the end. Good vision truly is priceless and I’ve been impressed with the aftercare and follow up of Woodham as well. Thank you to Dr Shetty and crew!
