Not sure the nurse who was so rude to me deserves a star waiting on my son at 71 needed a snack was getting dizzy of course At 71 I needed to eat since you can’t leave I looked around the room no sign I had a granola bar I took a bite. One of the nurses came out to call someone. Mind you I’m sitting in the back of the room she yells from the doorway to take it outside room full of people how hard was it to come to me and say something instead of yelling across the room very rude and disrespectful. PUT A SIGN UP!!!!!!!!
Had an endoscopy here. The nurse prepping me was amazing, but unfortunately she was the only one. I explained to the doctors that I was incredibly uncomfortable with using propofol or any drug that affects memory due to being abused by another doctor while on Valium and propofol. Dr Reddy explained that an endoscopy can be done without sedation and only local anesthetic, which I knew from researching the procedure. It's actually standard practice to do it this way in many other countries and isn't as big of a deal as it was made out to be. However, Dr Reddy didn't want to do it this way. I felt very coerced into agreeing to propofol, which I regret. He explained that it only works when the patient is calm. He didn't seem to understand at all that my appreciation was tied to the propofol itself and not the actual procedure, despite my attempts to explain. I let them know that I have a connective tissue disorder that affects how I metabolize drugs and that I need far less than an average patient. They started out by giving the smallest dose possible, but a nurse informed me that I gagged during the procedure. So, instead of slowly upping the dose, which would have been prudent given the extenuation medical circumstances, they jumped straight to the full dose a healthy person would get. I specifically told them that "normal" doses of meds are generally far too much for me, but I suppose bodily autonomy does out the window when propofol is involved. If they actually had patients best interest in mind, they'd have slowly upped the dose. Jumping straight to a dose that was too high was a clear indicator that they just wanted to get it done and get to the next patient. The result of this, for lack of better word, stupid decision was that I woke up paralyzed in recovery. For quite some time I could feel the nurse shaking me and hear her telling my aunt "there's nothing medically wrong, she just doesn't WANT to wake up," as if I were simply choosing to stay asleep. I tried very hard to signal her that something was wrong by breathing irregularly, shallow, or even holding my breath and she never noticed. I'm a type 1 diabetics and this nurse even forgot to check my blood sugar! I heard my aunt remind her. When I was able, I let the nurse know that I could hear her and that she was wrong about me not "wanting" to wake up. She said the paralysis can happen sometimes, however for reasons beyond my understanding, not one staff member thought it would be a good idea to warn me. I was terrified when I couldn't move. This traumatic experience has solidified my decision that I will absolutely never be doing any tests involving sedation again.
Apparently my last review was taken down. This office is only interested in your money. When I arrived for my procedure I asked what the total charges would be. The very confused looking woman behind the desk could not tell me. I asked how much it would cost for anesthesia. She didn't know but gave me a phone number that had been disconnected. When I returned to the desk and informed her of this she looked even more confused. I told her. I would need to cancel my procedure if they could not tell me how much money I had to spend And that I would expect a full refund of the deposit of over a $1000.I had already given them. She got the surgeon to speak with me. He was very nice and convinced me that this would provide me with it with answers to my issues. The procedure was uneventful although they did remove seven polyps for which I am grateful. However, This did not resolve my issues. My follow up with doctor Carey was totally unhelpful. She told me that the the issues i've been having for the last seven months would be cured by two weeks of Metamucil...really??! She said this having no knowledge of what my diet was like or what I had already tried. I am a pescatarian.I only eat organic and whole grain foods. I've been taking prune juice which has twice as much fiber as metamusical. But she was apparently not aware of this. I have since received more bills for over $2000.That do not show a credit for the deposit already made. Forget Western medicine. There are other ways to solve your problems.Obviously this was not mine. If your funds are unlimited, go for it, just don't expect any answers once they get your money. ****UPDATE **** After contacting an attorney about the obviously fraudulent charges, they finally credited me for the $1100.00 I had to prepay, but none of the insurance payments that were made. In addition, when I demanded a detailed bill from the Northeast Georgia Hospital System, I discovered that I had been diagnosed with diverticulosis, the precursor to diverticulitis. No advice about how to avoid a more serious condition (a moneymaker) and no help for the symptoms I was and am still experiencing. Updating my attorney today.
Dr. Jacob and the entire staff at Braselton Endoscopy were excellent. The quality of care, understanding, and guidance made the entire procedure better. I arrived when told, taken back at my appointment time, and each person through the whole process was understanding and helpful. Putting me at ease. Being my first, I had really no idea what to expect. I had built up in mind a far worse experience. Everyone at this facility is professional and caring. Dr. Jacob is a superior Doctor. Please do not put off screenings because you fear the process. It is really far worse in your mind than it is, and could save your life. I would highly recommend Gastroenterology Associates, Braselton Endoscopy, and Dr. Jacob.
My wife had an appointment for 7:00 am in which she was supposed to arrive 45 minutes prior for registration pre-op. We got to the office and was close. We knocked on the glass because we clearly see the secretary on her desk. She then came to open the door and was very rude telling us that they don’t open till 7 and that they had left a message. I’ve been in this office before as a patient and treatment was better.
