Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

We have been so pleased with the care Tim received throughout his ordeal with shingles in his eye! All of the Doctors and staff we worked with have been professional and caring. If you are looking for a top notch vision care facility, look no farther. Regina

I’m giving this place one star only because I had to leave a review. I’d avoid it at all costs! The prices are outrageous—a pair of glasses was going to cost me over $600, while I got them elsewhere for $100. They claimed I needed a laser procedure to relieve eye pressure and sent me to Brunswick for it. On the day of the procedure, they put the wrong substance in my eye, preventing the treatment. I was sent home—over 30 miles away—without an apology or compensation and had to return another day. They acted like nothing happened. Every office visit I paid my co-pay, yet despite my last visit being in January, I received a letter in October threatening collections for a supposed 90-day overdue balance. How can I owe anything when I haven’t been there in 10 months? The service is terrible, overrated, and far too expensive. I strongly recommend staying away!

Dr. Brooks and her team deserve 5 Stars. but because of problems I've had with their patient portal gave them a 4. Dr. Brooks impresses me with her knowledge which extends beyond typical eye problems and her compassion and efforts to help solve my unusual eye problems. She provides great advice on other options when my problems cannot be addressed by Opthalmology including referrals.

I had a great experience with Dr. Tara Jordan in Brunswick, GA. After accidentally poking my eye, I was worried and in a lot of discomfort. Dr. Jordan was not only professional and knowledgeable but also incredibly kind and reassuring. She quickly diagnosed the issue, explained everything clearly, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the visit. Thanks to her care, my eye healed up quickly and I felt confident I was in good hands. I’m truly grateful for her help and highly recommend her to anyone in need of an ophthalmologist. I can't stress how she goes above and beyond for her patient's. My only complaint is that she's not available in my home state
