Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

I had the most awesome experience with the Lewiston office. All of the people in that office are top-notch and very compassionate. I recommend them to anyone. I also really appreciated the prayer before we went in and I thank the Lord Jesus for you people

These folks are amazing. Everyone there is friendly and genuinely solicitous of their patients’ well-being. They are also a very professional bunch. I am delighted and grateful I went to them for my cataract surgery. I could not have asked for a better experience, and the results were nothing short of amazing.

I had LASIK surgery at PCLI one month ago & I couldn’t be happier with my results or the care I received! Across the board every single person here is so kind & friendly. The entire process was smooth as butter. I even lost my post surgery antibiotic eye drops on a Saturday night & called that Monday morning to let them know! They told me to head down & provided me with a new bottle at no extra cost! I would recommend them to anyone considering LASIK.

I was nervous about having my eye worked on, but it wasn't scary at all. The staff were nice and calming and the procedure itself was over in minutes. So far, I'm very happy with the results. I had my second eye done about a month after the first eye. The first eye my sight was almost perfect from the time I left the surgery room. With the second eye my sight was blurry. That made me very nervous. The people there told me that was actually more normal than my experience with the first eye. Although I felt they knew what they were saying, I was again very nervous. However, after a week my sight in that eye is very good. I visited my regular eye doctor yesterday and he was very pleased with the results. I would definitely recommend PCL.
