Only giving 2 stars and all of those stars belong to the nursing staff and the ER charge nurse, Ashley (who truly deserve closer to 5 stars). I will say this, I got in relatively quick but I must have arrived during a shift change because once I was brought back to a room, I was left alone for quite some time. I had to have my partner go and ask for someone to see me. The doctor I saw was the most dismissive medical professional I had ever met. I was bleeding profusely and most likely hemorrhaging, but was essentially told to go home because my levels “weren’t low enough”. No physical exam was given, nothing to stop the bleeding, etc, despite me passing golf-ball sized clots. Thank goodness for the nursing staff and the charge nurse that evening understood my concerns and sat with me and in depth to discuss them further. She eventually said they would run my labs again after seeing my concern. I’m still frustrated I went home with no physical exam or solutions to stopping the bleeding. I had to go to an urgent care the next day where they promptly completed an ultrasound and prescribed me medication for slowing heavy bleeding.

I went in - panicked and fighting the cold as well as a terrible HVAC system in the hotel I am currently staying in - not only was the ER quick, kind and respectful / they asked about advanced directives - this is the first time I had been asked of this within multiple ERs in Chicago, read through my file, explained more things within my file that my previous care provider did, and made me feel at ease enough to sleep. To edit - lymphatic enlargement and non benign things that previous care providers / despite having all bloodwork and my time / have done anything to correct. Thank you, St, Joseph’s 🌻

Best hospital! I went in with pain in my lower right abdomen, and it turned out I needed my appendix removed. I got there around 1:30 and was already home by 9. Everyone was so kind, and the doctor who did my surgery was amazing!

There was no wait in the ER when I went in for my appendix, I was able to get in right away. Everyone was pleasant to speak to and very nice overall. Surgery went well, and I was released the next day. 10/10 would recommend. The food wasn’t bad either. 🙂
