My wife had an appointment at 9:30 for a colonoscopy, we checked in at 9:20, they didn't take her for her procedure till 11:35. They need to rethink their scheduling procedure.

Get a cup of coffee. You will need time to read this story. I have never seen such a cluster in the medical field as I've seen at River Point Surgery Center in Elkhart. In May of 2023 I had scheduled a Colonoscopy. Did all of the prep etc.... Went in at my appointment time in the morning. I was told there would be a slight delay as there were a couple of patients ahead of me. No problem. After an hour more wait it was now my turn. Came out about a half hour later. All good. Three polyps removed. The Doctor said he would like to see me in a year because one of the polyps removed, if it were to turn into cancer. It is the aggressive type of cancer. "well, I want to go quick not slow" so, we scheduled for May 3rd 2024 since this one was completed on 5/1/24 this way, we were told the insurance company would pay the entire invoice. So, at may 2nd they called to give me a time to report and,,, oh by the way it will be $300.00 due from me. Well, the first time it cost me nothing. So I canceled. Am not spending $300.00 for this. So, I waited till the end of July to re-schedule. They put me in for August 2nd. I asked them to double check and make sure the insurance would cover this 100%. I was told by Elkhart Clinic, RiverPoint and we even called the insurance company to verify. It was covered 100%. So, the day before the surgery on August 1st. My wife called RiverPoint to make sure it was a go because I had started the prep. River Point did not even have me on the schedule. So we had to call back to the Elkhart Clinic and let them set it up. I did go in and get the Colonoscopy as scheduled. When we showed up at River Point to check in. I asked a couple more times, are you sure the Insurance company will cover this. She said yes when she looked it up. It has been more than a year. Again.... Delayed going in for over an hour plus. Agter the Colonoscopy and in recovery. The Doctor came in with the paperwork and said.. .Everything is fine. We removed one polyp and I don't need to see you for three or four years. On August 25th I received an invoice from River Point for 1,141.00 dollars. The insurance company paid $4359.00 the total for the procedure was $5500.00 This is robbery and taking advantage of the common everyday individual. Then on the 26th of August, I received another invoice for $220.00 for the anesthesia. If I canceled the first appointment for being quoted $300.00 why in the hell would I want to pay 1361.00 total? I wouldn't. Bottom line is. These people are money grubbers and way over priced. In looking into this situation. It all comes down to the correct coding. The individual or individuals that code these procedures many many times put in the wrong coding. How many people actually check to see if it's correct? Trust me. There is no accountability at this place. I'm sure it's not the only medical facility taking advantage of patients. There are good places in South Bend that will do a complete colonoscopy for $1000.00 out the door. I have a good friend that goes there every year. Stop feeding these money grubbing people. Do yourself a favor and do your homework. P.S. I am paying the bills however. I will never go back again. I've learned a very valuable lesson. Do not everyone. Do your homework and, get it in writing!! Bottom Line is, it is a business. That I understand. However, what I do not understand is Why.... is there no Accountability, proper business management, product knowledge, communication and so much incompetence in the coding/billing department of these medical facilities? Proper training and accountability is the key.

I've had endoscopy's and a colonoscopy and now my wife is scheduled 8:30 am for a colonoscopy, so she has to stay up pretty much all night prepping. And I started thinking why in the world don't they scheduled endoscopy's in the morning as you don't have to start taking the prep 6 hours before your arrival time.And colonoscopy's in the afternoon so they can still have a decent nights rest???? That's a simple fix and I wonder why in the world can't they figure that out it's not rocket science?????

My girlfriend is having surgery here. They people at check in were amazing. The nurses in the waiting area for surgery were awesome. They did an excellent job prepping her for surgery and always checked in on her while we were waiting. Dr Rotkis was very pleasant and made her feel at ease when he came in to talk to her before her procedure. The recovery nurse was very nice and and kept me informed of the after care

I went in for an upper and lower scope, everyone was so nice. I was very nervous and they made the process so easy. Dr. Raza was great. The nurse Danielle went above and beyond making sure my family and I felt comfortable before, during and after. It was very much appreciated!
