If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I simply called to make an appointment for a patient who has been going to this center for 2 years now. The woman who answered the phone upon making that call was extremely rude. I understand having bad days, but this woman HATES her job and she was very clear to make that apparent. Just trying to schedule and appointment over the phone was a nightmare, I can only imagine having to physically be in the center. We just switched doctors all together.
68 yr old female who yesterday had total hip replacement under spinal. This place is fantastic. I got there at 5:30 am. Surgery at 7, went home at 10. Woke up very alert, no nausea or issues.. Have been walking in the house quite a bit since yesterday. Today I received a phone call from a nurse seeing how I was doing. Couldn’t have gone better.
I was very impressed with MSSC. Dr. Staron is top notch and his staff is hand picked. I was treated with grace, humility and professional care throughout my stay. Everyone wore a smile, from the front desk to the end of my stay, when Becky walked us to the car. Katrina, Jamie and Becky, thank you all for meeting my specific needs! I highly recommend this awesome group of professionals.
Had back surgery on Feb 1, 2023. Maybe it's me, because I had so many surgeries in the past, but I felt this was my best experience yet and I was completely at ease. I wish I could remember names, but Pre-op nurse checked on me frequently and made sure I was comfortable. She realized, I have limitations on the use of my hands and helped me with such things as putting on my surgical socks, and other small tasks. Time flew by waiting for surgery. Both the Nurse Anesthesiologist and Physical Therapist also came to see me individually prior to surgery, as well as wonderful Dr. Colman. No matter what, throughout the whole process, whatever was being done or whatever medicine was going into me, was always being explained. I felt each nurse, or other staff member was very sweet and not one bit of condescending attitude, as I have experienced elsewhere. I also appreciated being knocked out as soon as I arrived in the operating room. I was not awake for transferring to the operating table, placing my face down into a hole, or the coldness of cleaning the area to be operated on, as I usually am. Post op was just as great. The nurse checked on me regularly and gave me food and drink. Before I knew it, I was going home. The nurse said to feel free to stay and rest longer if I needed to me. No rushing me out of there. Lastly, Post OP instructions were made clear to myself and my husband before leaving. Dr. Colman even called my husband, after surgery, to let him know how it went. I felt it all went so smoothly and their calmness made me calm.
This was my second procedure done at Munster Specialty Surgery Center. The last time, in February, I wasn’t crazy about the pre-op nursing experience. This time, however, it was AMAZING. Jen is just so great. Super attentive, sweet, caring, and so kind. The last time, the post op nurse, Lisa, was beyond amazing. She truly is a gift. Attentive, caring, and very Organized. We just felt like we were in the best hands. This time, the post op nurse wasn’t as great. I felt like she was rushing to get me out of there. She never assessed my pain, nausea, etc. Even when I pointed out that I was in a ton of pain and nauseated right before she had me get dressed, she was just like “oh, that’s too bad” and continued to have me get ready to leave. Finally, I specifically asked her for meds. I really think it largely depends on who is assigned to you during your time here. The front reception is always amazing. The surgery itself, both times, went great.
