Unethical business*** This is a difficult review to write, but I think it’s important. I had LASIK at this practice and experienced post op issues that required ongoing follow-up. During that period, I was also dealing with serious health issues that sometimes made it unsafe or impossible for me to drive. I communicated this clearly when I had to cancel appointments due to illness. I was ultimately told that the reason for cancellations didn’t matter and that I could no longer receive care due to their policy. There was no attempt to discuss flexibility, alternative scheduling, or accommodations. Being dropped from care while dealing with post-procedure issues and chronic illness is incredibly distressing. Policies matter, but so does patient care and basic compassion. I would urge anyone with complex health needs to think carefully before choosing this practice as their ability to offer fair care is lacking. And yes I spoke with HR and no there was still no resolution. I am now seeking access to my medical records and all policies that I apparently agreed to but will be charged money to receive them. This place is a joke and if my experience alone doesn't raise concerns their turnover of staff should. Disgusted!

I have been a patient for 20+ years and called this week to schedule my eye exam for contacts. The receptionist was rude and not accommodating at all. She stated they were booking into September. When I told her my prescription was expired and I couldn’t wait that long I would have to find another office, she had nothing to say but “I guess so”… Pretty sad after 20+ years of being fitted for contacts here I couldn’t come in and purchase some to get my by till September. I will say the receptionist at Penobscot Eye Care was very nice.

there is a lot to be said about hands-on, family-owned experience. I will never trust the internet nor AI for obtaining a prescription or for eye care exams. I love VCOM and the providers here.

I have always been happy with my visits. I do have a couple negatives. The eye doctors never tend to stay, you find one you like and they leave which I guess is common in Maine. My other negative is I just learned optical is closing on Dec 4th. I will probably find another facility as I like my Dr. and optical all in one place😢

Overall I had a very good experience. I had to wait about 15 minutes beyond my appointment time, but everyone was friendly and helpful. My eye exam was thorough and I was also fitted for contact lenses. I placed my order for new lenses at their retail shop. No complaints. It was a very good experience. I've read the reviews about not being able to get anyone in the phone, but I haven't called them since I made my appointment 3 months ago.
