Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

What an amazing practice! The kindness started at the reception desk. I told Shelly that I was frightened and she said, "Look at it this way, if he finds anything bad, he will take it out." The operating room staff did everything to put me at ease. I would like to especially send a heartfelt kudos to Dr. Urooj Ahmed if came to him because a previous Dr. scolded me for being ill prepared, not drinking enough prep, and refused to do the colonoscopy despite drinking twice the prep of everyone else. As much as I tried to drink the prep, take Linzess, and had a liquid diet for almost a week, I was still not prepared. However, Dr.Urooj persisted and completed the colonoscopy and removed 3 polyps. His extra effort meant the world to me. Because of his kindness, I feel confident that I no longer have to put off colonscopies for years. Because I am now unafraid, I can now schedule them on time knowing that, one day, his compassion may very well save my life. With deepest respect, Maria Krug

I found everyone at The Endoscopy Center to be very accommodating, helpful, courteous and professional. They made an otherwise tense experience very calming with their actions.

Brought my dad in for an appointment This place has the worst nursing staff ever. They are so rude and have no compassion at all If as a nurse you really hate your job that much it might be time for a new job

I recently had a colonoscopy done by Dr. Cremins at the Endoscopy Center at Robinwood. All was handled extremely well by all parties involved including The Endoscopy Center (it was very clean, well organized, and the personnel were very helpful and thorough), Dr. Cremins (very professional, explained it all very clearly, produced a very high quality report), and the anesthesiologist that was involved. If you are due a colonoscopy, I highly recommend this center and Dr. Cremins as well!
