Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Knee ArthroscopyA camera and small instruments are inserted through incisions the size of a buttonhole to repair cartilage, trim a torn meniscus, or remove loose fragments. Because the joint is not opened fully, recovery is far faster than traditional open knee surgery.Shoulder ArthroscopyUses a small camera and instruments through tiny incisions to repair the shoulder joint โ€” commonly for impingement, labral tears, or damaged cartilage. Most patients go home the same day and begin physical therapy within the first week.ACL ReconstructionRebuilds the torn anterior cruciate ligament using a graft, since a fully torn ACL does not heal on its own. The surgery itself is outpatient, but returning to cutting and pivoting sports typically takes nine to twelve months of structured rehabilitation.Rotator Cuff RepairReattaches torn tendons in the shoulder to the bone. Pain relief often comes well before strength does โ€” a sling is typical for several weeks and full recovery commonly takes four to six months, with physical therapy doing much of the work.Carpal Tunnel ReleaseCuts the ligament pressing on the median nerve at the wrist to relieve numbness, tingling, and night pain in the hand. The procedure takes about 15 minutes under local anesthesia. Night symptoms often improve immediately; grip strength returns over several weeks.Joint ReplacementDamaged joint surfaces are replaced with implants, most commonly at the knee or hip. Once exclusively a hospital procedure, selected healthy patients now have this done at surgery centers and go home the same day with a structured recovery plan.

I had two full knee replacements (separate surgeries) at the Ruxton Surgi Center. The staff is competent, friendly, accomodating & efficient. Nurses Corey, Casey & Allie were wonderful. I had doctors Davis & Richmond as my anesthesiologists. Both were excellent.

From our arrival until we were discharged was nothing but positive. The doctors and their staff are exceptional. How blessed the physicians are to have a staff like they have that takes care of their patients the way they do!! I have and will continue to sing the praises of the center and staff. Would not hesitate to return should I need any other orthopedic issues addressed. Thank you Dr. Tarentino!!!

Overall they did a great job. Love Dr. Wolock! He is personable, unlike many surgeons, and shows he really cares! A real GEM! In addition, of course, he did a wonderful job fixing my son's finger. I was so happy that we were not "rushed" in any aspects of the process. Staff are friendly and accommodating and encouraged questions and, mostly, made me and my child feel comfortable. My only problem was with our intake nurse, Robin, when I was trying to assure my child that his 1st time experience was going to be just fine and that Mom was not worried, so HE should not be worried, this nurse directly contradicted me in front of my child!! I was in shock that she did that and, frankly, quite annoyed. I did not address it right there so as not to upset my son, but, she needs to be corrected for this. Her response was, "No, that is not true at all!" It was very offensive. I realize her intent was to tell him that it is OK to be nervous, which she followed up by saying, BUT, contradicting a parent in this manner was very inappropriate. It also took this nurse a long time to get the IV in his arm which did NOT help his anxiety level AT ALL. A nurse friend of mine said this could have been handled IN the operating room when he was not aware of it. On the flip side, our recovery and discharge nurse was fantastic. Excellent at explaining everything, friendly, accommodating, great with instructions and walked us out wishing us well. I had to hug her!
