Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Knee ArthroscopyA camera and small instruments are inserted through incisions the size of a buttonhole to repair cartilage, trim a torn meniscus, or remove loose fragments. Because the joint is not opened fully, recovery is far faster than traditional open knee surgery.Shoulder ArthroscopyUses a small camera and instruments through tiny incisions to repair the shoulder joint — commonly for impingement, labral tears, or damaged cartilage. Most patients go home the same day and begin physical therapy within the first week.ACL ReconstructionRebuilds the torn anterior cruciate ligament using a graft, since a fully torn ACL does not heal on its own. The surgery itself is outpatient, but returning to cutting and pivoting sports typically takes nine to twelve months of structured rehabilitation.Rotator Cuff RepairReattaches torn tendons in the shoulder to the bone. Pain relief often comes well before strength does — a sling is typical for several weeks and full recovery commonly takes four to six months, with physical therapy doing much of the work.Carpal Tunnel ReleaseCuts the ligament pressing on the median nerve at the wrist to relieve numbness, tingling, and night pain in the hand. The procedure takes about 15 minutes under local anesthesia. Night symptoms often improve immediately; grip strength returns over several weeks.Joint ReplacementDamaged joint surfaces are replaced with implants, most commonly at the knee or hip. Once exclusively a hospital procedure, selected healthy patients now have this done at surgery centers and go home the same day with a structured recovery plan.

The OSC of the North Shore provides world class care without schlepping into Boston. Kudos to the nursing staff, anesthesia, & surgeon, Dr. Ira Evans. If you are a candidate for outpatient surgery, I would strongly recommend this facility. I had a total knee replacement & the process was seamless.

I can't say enough about OSCNS. I had a procedure done in May and another just last week. From the minute I walked in the door I was met with the most pleasant, professional and caring staff. I have been to several other surgical centers in the past, but none compare to OSCNS! The staff at the Registration Desk, the nurses, the anesthesiologist and the surgeons were all very professional, AND very friendly and caring. It is very clear that the people that work here are happy to be doing what they are doing and they genuinely care about their patients. The facility is very clean, they are very organized, and the procedures, both times, went without a hitch. I have made it a point to make sure I let each individual that had anything to do with my care know how much I appreciate them. I can't say enough about OSCNS!

If your looking for post opp support forget it. I would recommend running the other way. My wife had a shoulder operation. On day 1 I called with a question at 3:45, answering service says they are all gone gives me the voice mail system. I cannot get a human on the phone. My message was never returned. Day 3 same questions unanswered left another message, never returned the call. Day 5 more questions, on hold in voicemail system for about 20 minutes. We finally get through to someone but they are just taking a message. Now 4 hours later sitting here waiting for a call back. This place is just a money making factory, they don't care about the well being of the patients post opp. Find another place.
