On the plus side, staff was courteous and helpful. On the negative, this facility has a very cold, impersonal atmosphere, including the gray and beige decor. Patients are run through like an assembly line. Family is not allowed in the recovery room, as is customary in hospital related surgical centers. Never saw or spoke to the surgeon. The patient checks in, is whisked back into the interior surgical suite, and is wheeled out out when done. Post surgical instructions are given to a recently sedated patient with no family member present to be sure they're understood. Not a fan.
I'm normally seen elsewhere but my clinic is using this clinic during construction. Everyone was super kind but Beth the anesthesiologist is an absolute gem! She was funny and put me at ease quickly. I only wish she was a doctor that I could regularly see because she was so kind.

This facility would not tell me if they were a BCBS Michigan Network 1 or Network 2 provider. I had to infer based on the nature of the estimate, and contact BCBS directly. If you are coming here from IHA using UM Premier Care, do not assume that this is Network 1. My bill here was estimated to be over a grand for a procedure covered 100% at a Network 1 facility. BCBS was not sure why the billing department here could not share with me whether they were Network 1 or Network 2. Maybe AASC has a good reason, but I found the explanation of "...we only got our contract for BCBS a month ago..." inadequate. Of course this may change, but at the time of this review, I had to call IHA, AASC, and BCBS to get answers to my questions. I let IHA know that I would be scheduling my procedure elsewhere, and was able to get a consult with a University of Michigan Health System doctor within three days. This review does not pertain to the facility's cleanliness, or specific services, only to interacting with its billing department. I have given them 3 stars because the person I spoke with on the phone was generally friendly, ran my insurance a second time, and handled my persistence calmly. They were also clear that they expected payment up front, and indicated they could request a payment post-insurance processing, but that it was a special request that could be denied. This same person was not able to explain to me whether the facility was a Network 1 or Network 2 facility. Not having those details available to help potential patients make quick and effective decisions is a massive problem, and I hope that AASC corrects this in the future.
