Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

My experience at Holland Eye Surgery was excellent. Dr. Snyder took his time to explain my situation. He was so helpful.

If I had to describe the experience with Holland Eye Surgery in one word it would be “REMARKABLE”! The testing equipment, procedures, and subsequent laser cataract surgery were all executed with precision. The morning of my surgery I was legally blind in my left eye. By afternoon I was seeing 20/20 again with vibrant colors and no sensitivity to brightness. Same excellent results with my right eye. I can enthusiastically recommend Dr Matt Currie and Team for laser cataract surgery!

I was very pleased with my experience at Holland Eye! I recently had cataract surgery there. Dr. Currie and all the staff were extremely pleasant and professional. They answered all my questions, kept me cozy warm with heated blankets, and made me feel valued. The surgery was successful and the follow up visits went smoothly. I received phone calls from the office and the doctor himself inquiring about how I was doing after each surgery. I would highly recommend Holland Eye Surgery and Laser Center.

Benjamin Currie and the entire team in Holland is awesome. I drive over an hour to go to here. They provide services and use technology that isn't readily available in the Kalamazoo area. The staff is caring, sensitive, professional and even fun to work with.

Been to this clinic and It felt like they were more focused on seeing as many patients as possible rather than providing thorough, quality care. My husband was seen here but later went to another provider in Grand Rapids after no improvement. The other provider correctly identified what this place had overlooked. Also they charged a price that was not the original quoted price and then blamed our insurance. Every other facility we have went to once quoted us a price we paid that price. This has never happened before to us Nor should happen. So No I recommend this place based on our experience. Respond to your care. He had a detached retina and you never even dilated his eye on his first visited he was diagnosed incorrectly and had it been caught maybe could of stopped surgery. It is not only the missed diagnosis. Not only the inexperienced provider joking about an eye condition. It is also the hangup calls from your office. I have never left a negative review. My concern is the person needing kind truthful honest care comes to your office and is treated like we were just another number on your roster.
