Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Procedure list is based on CMS-reported specialty designations. Contact the facility to confirm specific procedures offered.

Seen Dr Klinfelt. No bedside manners, tore my Cornea and then when I couldn’t see and had questions after 3 out of 20 he walks out and I stated I was not done with the questions and he said that he was done. Never once told me he tore my Cornea during the procedure. I did not find out that was the problem until I switched to Kresge Eye institute. I would never recommend him, he is a jerk!!

My personal opinion of the OSM surgery center is that I feel that you could not find a better surgical center. I have been there 3 times so far and everyone is very nice. The nurses are very thuroug at making sure that all patient surgery information is correct and mark which eye is the correct one for surgery. They take excellent care of the patient and their needs. I have had 2 surgeries with Dr. Ahmed and he is such a kind and friendly person. I am so thankful that I found Dr. Ahmed, he kept reassuring me that I would not have any pain during the 2 procedures and he was absolutely right on target about that. Thanks to everyone at OSM for being so kind and pleasant.

I was extremely nervous about my surgery. Not sure what to expect. But from the start, the people at the front desk were so friendly, the nurses were just as nice and patience. Dr. Ahmed made me feel comfortable and ready for the surgery. I truly would highly recommend anyone who needs eye surgery to come here. Thank you to everyone who participated with my surgery. And a the staff members.

Very pleased with the prompt service and thoroughness of the staff. My surgery was completed in the blink of an eye, and I received a follow up call shortly thereafter. I can’t express more strongly my happiness with the results from my cataract surgery. After a couple days of blurriness my vision is incredibly sharp and clear. My only regret is that I have to wait to get my other eye done.
