The staff is kind, polite and knowledgeable....and that's about it. **Warning** for consumers. Know your insurance policy very very well, and understand that Nebraska surprise billing laws are not as helpful to patients as they are in other states. In other words, this facility and it's doctors will bill **separately** for everything, making multiple bills for a single procedure. Facility fee bill, Dr bill, injection bill, MRI bill, guy who reads the MRI bill..etc. Our insurance did exactly what it was supposed to do as they received each individual bill. Adds up very fast even with good insurance such as my own when you have 4 bills stacked with copays and co-insirance all for one 5 minute procedure. Will give an update after we attempt to make payment arrangements since we have multiple bills instead of 1 bill for 1 injection.

The surgical staff was great and performed my surgery well. The reason for my 2 star review is 100% related to the billing department. They "claim" that they sent a total of 3....mind you 3 statements and turned me over to collections. When asked, I was rudely told that they do not call the customer in relation to bills. Therefore, they are willing to take a cut on their bill and help fund a collection agency, instead of making attempts themselves. Now I have to pay additional fees for court filings and other nonsense! If you read this review to the end, lets just call it one star....do better about dealing with your customers, afterall, they are what keep you in business!

If given the option, I wouldn’t choose to use this facility. Thinking a surgical center would be more cost effective was completely wrong. My husband had multiple surgeries over the last year. They charged more than $10000 over what an actual overnight surgery stay at the hospital charged. So after they received tens of thousands of dollars for a few hours at their facility from our insurance, they want thousands more within 90 days…they are not willing to work with you on a payment plan that is manageable. Throughout his many dr bills and surgeries, this facility is the most difficult and expensive.

Unfortunately, On the day of surgery, there were some issues with communication regarding billing information between the doctors office, workman’s comp, and Heartland Surgery Center. This caused immense stress right before having surgery. Abby Henderson who handles the business/billing at Heartland Surgery Center had very poor bedside manner. She lacked empathy regarding the situation and did nothing to help resolve the issue. She (at my bedside) initially presented me with an ultimatum to either have billing sent to primary insurance or for me take full responsibility for billing myself. She did not offer any further assistance in getting it billed properly to workman’s comp. After I initiated contact with workman’s comp and got all three parties connected (surgery center, workman’s comp, and doctor’s office), Abby took the time to come back to my bedside to explain to me why it was not her responsibility/fault or the fault of the facility. She did this very slowly as If I might have trouble understanding. I understand that a billing position doesn’t necessarily require good bedside manner, but it is extremely valuable if you are indeed communicating with patients at any level. Paige an RN there was wonderful. She was polite, empathetic, and has a wonderful bedside manner. All other nurses and medical professionals there were great.
