Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Excellent service! My optician was kind, professional, and very attentive. He made the whole process easy and stress-free. The exam was detailed and never felt rushed. I am very happy with my visit and will definitely be coming back.

I was thoroughly impressed with the efficiency and speed of my eye exam. Dr. James Dello Russo was so helpful and wrote me a prescription for glasses. It was so easy to get an appointment and the staff are extremely friendly! Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Appointment at 12:15pm. Arrived at 12n, filled out paperwork. Paid deductible and waited. Nice older lady next to me was waiting 90 minutes after her appointment time. I complained on her behalf 3x and after the 3rd time they took her back. I left after waiting 45 minutes. My experience seems typical of this eye factory. My recommendation is DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

Extremely disrespectful receptionist. The first receptionist we spoke to was kind but the second one we went to was rude and had an attitude. Refused to give her name so I'll just describe her instead—clear glasses on and curly hair. She sounded very entitled and did not want to fix her attitude with us when speaking even though we spoke to her with nothing but respect. The manager, Debbie, came out and spoke to us to clarify the misunderstanding, yet we were still met with eye rolls and rude remarks coming from the receptionist as the manager was speaking to us. This isn't the first encounter we had with this receptionist, as we were here last year and were faced with the same ill-mannerisms. Even though she claimed she wasn't here last year, we have doubts about that as we remember having the same incident. Will definitely not be returning, this is absolutely no way to run an office. Manager should reconsider her policy standards and whether or not people like this even uphold to the lowest tier positions. Thank you and Happy New Year!

I had Dr.Brian Lilien for years, he is great and so thorough in the checkup. He took time to explain the issues with me and being patient to discuss alternatives with me. He really cares for his patients. The missing one star is because of the scheduling of my husband’s appointment in which they did not get his eligibility and so he needs to reschedule for a later time.
