Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Dr Sanchita Gupta is always very thorough, patient and very knowledgeable. It's always a pleasure to see her. She takes her time to listen to my concerns. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a primary doctor.

My husband was in the hospital. We had the covering doctor for gastroenterology Doctor Koo. He was rude and constantly rolled his eye. He would not look at my husband while talking to him. I get that my husband is not one of his primary patients, but as a covering doctor he should treat every patient with respect. Shame on Doctor Koo and shame on Bergen Medical for employing a doctor with zero respect.

Terrible experiences lately and my family has used this practice for many years for Primary and Gastro. Trying to get in touch with them or depending on them to handle simple things like sending in an order for blood work or return a call... Impossible. They leave messages telling you to call them back with no extension and no means to call them back. A ton of fun.. No thanks!

I thought it was just me but everyone is having issues with the customer service. Called about therapy and counseling and got endlessly transferred to different offices who swore the next one would schedule my appointment. Great Customer service for someone who’s seeking counseling and therapy for depression!!!!!

I'm writing this review specifically for Adrian ( hope I'm spelling her name correctly) who was so caring and kind to help me get my daughter's medicine renewed in the Gastro interology department. My daughter became so sick waiting 5 days for her medicine to be refilled by the doctor. When I called and spoke to Adrian, she was so caring and understanding and helped me right away to get her meds renewed and sent to the pharmacy. She is an actual GEM and I cannot thank her enough!!!
