Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Had my first appt with Dr. Goldstein, She had an extremely wonderful bedside manner, knowledgeable, confident, and answered all questions I had. I have my first hemorrhoid removed using their revolutionary system with a success. I will be making follow ups and solely driving to this clinic, even though it’s a little bit further

Dr. Devi Patel is an excellent doctor. I found the nurses to be quite attentive during the various procedures I've had. BUT the office is chaotic and there is a voicemail box where you request refills. I leave the message, speaking slowly and clearly with all the requisite information. They never get the message, and I wait over a week and need to talk to someone bypassing their system. I'm contemplating finding another office.

After fighting bronchitis for 6 weeks and having my acid reflux been ramped up from steroids and bronchitis made an appointment with Dr. Mathew’s. Suffering with regurgitation at night and after eating, throat pain, chest pain and hoarseness came here looking for help. After discussing symptoms with the doctor he suggested a new acid reflux medication. After one week and no improvement looking for help elsewhere. Disappointed with the lack of concern here.

Horrible institution with lackluster people. Don’t bother arriving early because they will take you in 15-20 minutes late 9x/10, not including the time waiting for the doctor to show up (usually adding another 10-15 minutes). In my experience, Dr. Daruwala treated me like a child (I am 21) and didn’t take the time to listen to me—if I told him him a medicine was working: he would take me off of it. If I inquired about a procedure/test that I believe would find answers: he would immediately shut it down and just recommend a colonoscopy, endoscopy, or antibiotics with a pointless follow up appointment that usually lasts 2 minutes, probably just so they can run your insurance. Wasted 7-8 months at this joke of an institution and regret not reading the reviews sooner to prevent that. You’re better off driving further and going to RWJ gastro where they will actually take your condition serious.

Go to a different doctor. I could have understood the oversight of misdiagnosing a fissure as a hemorrhoid for over 4 months. Even if all it took was a 2 second look during my 5th appointment. But when I was experiencing bloating and pain I was also told to go on a diet of water and miralax indefinitely. The doctor is not the best at listening and evaluating symptoms. Also was told that the doctor never recieves CT images only reports because he would not know what he was looking at anyway.
