Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through β€” a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

I have to be totally honest. I work in the medical field so I have seen it all. This was an amazing facility. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. I was scheduled for a Colonoscopy. I was extremely nervous. The girls at the front desk were very nice and I felt comfortable immediately. When I was called in the nurses were all very nice and and knowledgeable. I was in tears from being worried and my nurse was very comforting. My anesthesiologist was amazing. She took the time to speak to me about what was going to happen. She also hot my mind off everything. Dr. Tawadros did my procedure and even he took the time to speak to me and explain things. I highly recommend him. Last, in recovery once again had a wonderful nurse. Its very hard to find a medical facility that has such great qualities. The staff was great, the place was clean. Great experience all around. Thank you.

I recently had a colonoscopy at Freehold Endoscopy by Dr Geller. The whole process was well coordinated and very efficiently executed. The desk staff was cordial and I was taken mostly on time. The nursing staff was friendly and Angela was wonderful making me feel at ease and comfortable. The doctors were great explaining everything. I would highly recommend this clinic for colonoscopies

Had a really great experience here. The nurses and doctors put me at ease, and the time from changing into the gown to the procedure starting was probably 20 minutes. When I woke up I got some cookies and juice (after the prep you need it!), the doctor came by with the results, and I was out of there. All told, the worst part was drinking the prep. Absolutely recommend ECMC if it's time for your colonoscopy. Thank you to Gina, Debbie, Que (sp? sorry!), Amanda and Angela, and of course to Dr. Gupta and the anesthesiologist (whose name I didn't catch, unfortunately)!

The whole process from checking in for my sigmoidoscopy and being prepped by the nurses and support staff was amazing. Everyone was so compassionate, considerate and friendly, which makes you feel so comfortable. And then Dr. Brown closing it out is just the best Doctor you could ever ask for. He’s very knowledgeable, friendly and compassionate and you feel so relaxed in his care. I highly recommend Dr Brown and his entire staff.
