I had cataract surgery done there last week by Dr. Richmon and had an outstanding experience there. I entered the building scared that someone was going to operate on my eye. The first person I met and registered in at the front desk by Michelle. She had a great attitude for someone registering me in at 6:15am. She explained to me what was going to happen and calmed me down. Then I was met by Natalie a pre-op nurse who took me back to the per-op room. Again, another person with a great attitude. She saw that I was nerviest and guided me on what will be happening this day. She was a life saver. I got changed for the operation and she hooked me up to the machines etc. To put the IV line in with ease that I didn't even feel it. She then interduce me to the OR nurse and they wheeled me back to the OR. I met Dr. Richmon in the operating room and the surgery was done. Wow in and out and I didn't feel a thing. Then I was wheeled to the post op room and met nurse Chelsea who took over. She another one with a great attitude, unhooked me from all the machines and the IV with such cars and compassion. She made sure that I was fine and yes, I got my juice and crackers. After she saw that I was fine she found my wife and got a wheelchair and had someone wheel me out to the car. I really recommend the Surgical Center of South Jersey to all.

I was here a few weeks ago for a minor procedure and everyone was fantastic. Each person I encountered was kind and personable, and I was in and out in a very reasonable time frame. Special shout outs to Judi, who took great care of me before and after, and Dr. VanDeerlin, who completed my procedure without a hitch. I highly recommend this office. Thank you!

This surgical center is amazing. I was only in the waiting room for ten minutes, within the first five minutes Michelle had me registered and the next thing I know Carissa was bringing me back for my procedure. I was probably in pre-op maybe fifteen minutes. My OR nurse's Angela, Noelle and Erika were very efficient and talked to you so you wouldn't stress about what was happening around you, you felt like you were talking to some friends you've known for a while. My recovery nurse Natalie was very caring and couldn't do enough for me. Everyone there was very pleasant to talk to. I will definitely recommend SCSJ to anyone needing a same day procedure.

Beware of predatory billing practices!!! We were overcharged by $1,000 for our daughter’s 5 minute eye procedure. They charged us our full deductible($1,000), even though our insurance plan clearly stated there was no deductible required for outpatient procedures. We showed the details of our insurance plan to the receptionist when they tried to overcharge us. She told us she would call the insurance company to find out, but clearly didn’t because she cane back 1 minute later and made us pay $1,200 in order for them to perform the procedure for our 1 year old daughter. It was very stressful and we did not want to delay our daughter’s procedure so we paid the amount they requested. After the procedure, we called our insurance company and they confirmed we were overcharged. The rep from the insurance company called the office and the office then issued us a refund. The receptionist we dealt with acted disgruntled about issuing the refund and at the end of the call said “I’m glad we were able to help you out”, even though they overcharged us in the first place. I am wondering how many other people they have overcharged. The medical staff was great but the front office and billing was a nightmare!
