In today for my VF testing & follow-up with Dr. Dosch. She never fails to impress me with her professionalism & depth/breadth of knowledge, yet she can dilute the clinical stuff in a way that makes it totally understandable to me. I am so grateful that she provides me the opportunity to partner with her on my eye-health journey. Oh...and her new shoes today were awesome!

A NEW JOURNEY FOR ME As 2025 came to a close, A new journey was forced upon me. In December 2025, the vision in my right eye worsened, my vision went from 20:20 to dark areas appearing in my central vision. I journeyed to Fillmore Eye Clinic, Inc. in Ruidoso to find out what was going on. Turns out Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) has simply crossed paths with me, my family, my community and has now become a major part of my journey. The Fillmore Eye Clinic in Ruidoso discovered the problem and scheduled an appointment in Alamogordo with Nicholas Spendlove, M.D., Ophthalmologist. My wife and I arrived on January 2026 to meet Nicholas. He is a very nice doctor with a soft voice and he orchestrated a nice conversation with me after he discovered my problem: Wet AMD. This information was clear to me and the treatment process was simple; medication delivered through monthly injections in the eye. I was quiet momentarily but finally said ‘let’s do it’. I got my first shot on January 6th. All other shots will happen monthly through 2026 and maybe beyond. This medical journey is a beautiful reminder of what matters most: home, family, health, and the people who make life meaningful. I hope the journey ahead is filled with warmth, joy, and moments that create lasting memories. I really like Nicholas. He is truly a professional who cares for his patients.

I had a failed experience with a different provider in Las Cruces. Filmore's service was quicker and far more efficient. Kind personnel make you feel comfortable, and ended up paying less. I was also very happy with the outcome. I had my cataracts removed a week apart. I required another minor procedure scheduled on Halloween. A tense moment was certainly made lighter when the Cat in the Hat showed up to poke my eye. Things #1 and #2 were somewhere else. Can't have it all. Clear instructions and expectations for care afterwards. I felt valued.

Dr Spendlove definitely gets 5+ stars , as do almost all the staff! My elderly, hard of hearing, parent of 91 was treated respectfully, kindly, and all but one staff person spoke with her clearly and recognizing her hearing/comprehension limitation ensured she was understanding direction and questions. The one staff person who lacks in that sensitivity skill, seriously needs to figure it out, or get moved to back room filing. That person made my parent feel Less Capable than who she is - not to mention the building tense frustration going on with me. Thanks to all! Dr Spendlove is really the best at his profession and his soft kindness is admirable.
