Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

BEWARE: Unreliable Billing and Zero Communication While Dr. Oustecky and the clinical staff are professional, the administrative operations at North East Endoscopy are entirely unacceptable. I was billed $313.84 for an unexplained "balance." When I called to clarify, I was told point-blank that I owed nothing. Despite that assurance, I received the same bill two weeks later—this time categorized as a "facility fee." I have left multiple voicemails attempting to resolve this discrepancy, and the office has failed to return a single one. It is highly unprofessional to ignore patient inquiries regarding billing errors. I will not be returning to this facility, and I strongly advise others to seek care elsewhere to avoid hidden fees and a complete lack of administrative accountability.

I had a procedure recently in Northeast Endoscopy, East Setauket location. The experience was the most pleasant I ever had. Dr. Andrew Blank is really professional and experienced. The front desk is very friendly, always greeting you with big smiles. The nurses are so nice and good at what they do. Everything goes extremely efficiently. I have had taken quite some medical services these years. This place did surprise me. Highly recommend it!

The place itself I have had little problems with and the doctors have all been kind and talkative. I do however, vehemently despise their awful billing services. They abbreviate important terms on the bill so its harder to find important info when trying to pay, namely the Statement ID. And there's no indication when paying a bill(assuming you can figure out where the information is to get that far), as to whether its been paid or not. Leading to payment of one bill multiple times. And of course when you call in at 10AM, nobody picks up and you sit on hold for 10 minutes until it sends you to a voicemail. The rating is really just towards their administration/billing services, not the place itself which had many helpful individuals..

The staff here is fantastic! From check in to check out everyone was so kind and informative. Marissa was my prep nurse and she was super sweet. Brittany was my discharge nurse and she was also super sweet. Dr. Blank is an efficient and experienced physician. He is very kind and reassuring. When I woke up I had no idea it was already done. I was so nervous to have a procedure done but they helped me feel comfortable and safe. I greatly appreciate the care I received from this office. Thank you all so much.

Had a routine colonoscopy. The staff greeted you as you entered the facility. Everyone was friendly. The nurse Brianna was great. Friendly, very knowledgeable. The nurse who took the blood pressure was very nice and caring. Both make you feel comfortable. Dr. blank who did the procedure was great. Place was extremely clean and well organized. Every person I encountered was nice. Not one negative thing to say. They took me on time and your finished in the time they tell you. Would recommend this place to anyone that needs these type of procedures.
