I’m very disappointed with my recent experience at Rye Ambulatory Center. Before my procedure, I clearly agreed to have local anesthesia, but I was later billed around $1,100 for general anesthesia instead. I paid the estimated cos, $202 at check-in, this estimate was only sent by text and later confirmed by the center with only a phone call before my procedure asking me if I agreed with the estimate, which I did. They did not email me a copy beforehand. After I paid on the day of my procedure, I wasn’t given any paper receipt nor copy of the patient cost estimate after paying. That left me with no documentation to reference when the unexpected charges appeared later.Additionally no one informed me nor did I sign any form after the anesthesiologist insisted on using general, asking if I agreed to any additional costs. I have been protesting this cost with Summit Health because its communication and billing transparency, because no patient should have to deal with unexpected fees, lack of clear documentation and transparency. Rye Ambulatory did refund the $202.00 but I still have the surprise fee of $1100 from a company called North American Partners in Anesthesia to deal with.

The doctors here are great. I had a scheduled elective surgery. The pre-op/post op nurses were great. Sadly I was very disappointed with my experience in the operating room. One of the nurses I interacted with was blonde British women was extremely unprofessional and had a noticeably negative attitude. What made the situation worse was that she made inappropriate comments about my weight at a time when I was already feeling anxious and vulnerable. Healthcare professionals should make patients feel safe, respected, and supported—especially in a surgical setting. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I hope the facility addresses this behavior so that future patients are treated with the compassion and professionalism they deserve. I would never come back here based on my interaction with this women and her nasty attitude

My second experience at this center for a follow up surgery on the prior one from a few years ago and my time was just as pleasant as I recalled! Incredibly lovely nurses and staff, you truly feel that they care about your comfort and wellbeing at each step.

The operative word here is, "Ambulatory," which means if you have the time to amble on down to this facility you just might get what you're looking for. But if you want to reach them by phone, welcome to the 18th Century. Operators don't know how to use the system, you get sent to wrong numbers, when you get the right exchange, no one answers. There's even a robotic choice of extensions recording that has only one number for your to press! Think about that. Why have the message that provides you with the only choice? Because they don't want to hear from you. Bring them a warm body with a good check and maybe you'll get some attention. "Honey! Saddle up the horse and let's mosey on yonder to Rye Ambulatory."
