Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

I had come here 5 yrs ago and was so impressed I came for my procedure again today. They are excellent from the moment I called letting them know I wanted the colonoscopy and endoscopy done. They immediately sent me an email form so they could evaluate my health status. Then they scheduled me for a meeting at their office to discuss . Had an apt 1 wk later and everyone was great, Explaining everything the whole procedure and what they wanted me to do . I woke up after and they.were there . Afterwards the dr met with me and explained each item . All out of space but had very friendly and knowledgeable person with me every step. I can tell you I had one hospital just gave me a date with no knowledge about me and my health and history.

I had an excellent experience with Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology. From the very beginning, their communication and administrative coordination were outstanding. Even though I had to start over with an initial consultation after leaving another practice, the process was smooth, efficient, and well-organized. The staff was responsive, courteous, and proactive—everything from scheduling to prescription handling was managed correctly and without unnecessary follow-up on my part. I felt respected as a patient and confident that my care was being handled professionally. Overall, this practice made what can be an uncomfortable process feel straightforward and stress-free. I highly recommend Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology to anyone looking for a well-run, patient-focused gastroenterology practice.

Dr. Sanjib Mohanty is wonderful and so are the rest of his team who were all assisting him with my procedure. Even the lady who affiliated my anesthesia was great as well. Oh yeah, I can’t leave out the people at the front desk who handled all my paperwork and check in, we’re all phenomenal! Even the nice lady who rode me out in the wheelchair. I had an appointment for a Colon & Endo Tuesday December 16, 2025 and everything went perfect. I recommend this facility to everyone who finds this review. 2015 Randolph Rd Suite 101. Make your appointment and go see Dr. Mohanty you will not regret it. Have a wonderful day.
