Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Dr. Hung is always a pleasure to see. He has an excellent caring bedside manner and very down to earth. He is never in an hurry and takes the time to inquire about your life in general. This brings a feeling of comfort and eases communication. He maintains a plethora of knowledge and has always given me the confidence with his plan of care, especially due to the genetic history of my family. I just completed my third colonoscopy with Dr. Hung and his staff who are always very kind and provide me with ultimate care and guidance. If you’re looking for the best of the best, you can stop looking because you have found it here with Dr. Hung! Thank you for another wonderful interaction and I look forward to seeing you again!

This place is outstanding. I drove 1 1/2 hours to get there because they were the closest to me that took my insurance. Everyone was great especially Dr. Hung who did my procedure. Very nice man who took his time in explaining everything and to answer all my questions. I did not feel rushed at all. Highly recommend Guilford Endoscopy Center and especially Dr. Hung.

I’ve had three colonoscopies in my life, and my experience at Guilford Endoscopy Center was by far the best—hands down. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. Dr. Hung is absolutely outstanding: professional, reassuring, and exceptionally skilled. The entire staff deserves recognition. From the friendly front desk team to the compassionate nurses and the highly competent anesthesiologist, every person I encountered was top-notch. They made what could be an uncomfortable or stressful procedure feel seamless, safe, and surprisingly easy. Guilford Endoscopy Center truly sets the standard for patient care. I couldn’t recommend them more highly. If you’re looking for a team that treats you with respect, kindness, and exceptional expertise, this is the place.

Everything about this place feels so great! I was nervous going to set the appointment NGL! But on the procedure day, from the front desk to the nurse to the anesthesiologist to the doctor then back to the recovery nurse everyone did their job epic to the point I didn’t feel I was in a hospital! I am beyond grateful! And the top of the icing result was a great news!
