We got separate cataract surgeries at this doctor owned facility and our experience could not have been better. Dr. Rusinek of wake ophthalmology sent us to Dr. Compton who did a wonderful job in just a matter of minutes. Our experience with the RN’s and anesthesiologists was at an equally high standard of professionalism. We would definitely go back.

I’ve had a stint placed for 2 kidney stones. Kidney stones have been widely proclaimed by mothers everywhere to be miles more painful than child labor. I was told the stint had to remain for 2 weeks before I could get it removed. When did the HOSPITAL schedule my surgery for? 4 days after the 2 weeks is up. I literally called and begged and got my physicians and ER doctors involved to try to get them to be reasonable and practice empathy and change my surgery date, but the cruciatus curse is not at all urgent to Holly Springs surgery center because technically you’re not dying, even if you want to, have lost all quality of life and come close every day to taking care of it, yourself.

I’ve had two cataract surgeries at this facility, one in 2022, and one a few days ago. I have no complaints whatsoever. The pre-op nurses, Priya and Cindy, were caring and friendly. HSSC is clean and patients are kept comfortable before and during their procedure. Warm blankets abound! I know some people have had negative experiences, but those can occur anywhere. I had a bad experience at Duke Medical once that was not the fault of the hospital per se. You’ll have to decide for yourself what is best for you in any medical setting. As for me, I liked the small, more personal nature of this surgery center, as opposed to a big hospital.

So a mixed bag in the review. The surgical procedure and care were excellent. I am well ahead of schedule on my recovery as a result. Billing is an entirely different matter. Issue one is that they will not tell you what you owe until the day before the surgery. This amount must be paid prior to the surgery. In my case it was the full deductible for my insurance and fortunately I have a credit card that can easily handle that. Issue two, when they submitted the claim they did not include this payment so my insurance paid the doctors first and the surgery center second. Because I hit my yearly max out of pocket I did not owe the entire deductible to the surgery center. We are now 8 weeks out from the surgery, the claim has been paid by the insurance company, my credit card is due and I cannot get the $2000+ refund. I have been told that the people in that area are out, on zoom calls, on lunch, no longer employed and that they are incorporating a new payment system. Now I have to file a complaint to the NC Consumer Protection Agency to try to get these funds returned.

Currently waiting over two hours for a surgical check in. Was initially taken to receive the hospital bracelet and sign papers (no vitals, BW, or a diagnostics performed at that time). My surgery was scheduled for 11:00 am with a 9:00 am drop off. It is almost noon and nobody has come to speak to us if as to what time surgery may be pushed back to. I was told there was some power issues in the back. Nobody has come to communicate anything in two hours. Most of the people in the waiting room are very hungry and thirsty because we are waiting for surgeries. If you have a choice in surgical centers, I would try to avoid this one. Extremely disappointed.
