Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through โ€” a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

I had my first colonoscopy here. The nurses made me feel very comfortable. The anesthesiologist had me laughing with his dad jokes (well done my friend), and Dr. Patel made me feel at ease with the procedure. I appreciate each and every one of you. I hope to see the same staff again in 3yrs when I have to return for my next one.

The procedure process is prompt and handled by wonderful staff. The doctor is good. However, the office staff is another story. Leaving messages is pointless because they don't return calls. I was supposed to get labs done, but they gave me an incomplete lab form, so the clinic refused to perform the blood draws. Left messages twice... no call-back. Also, if you are overweight, make sure to double check whether or not you're over their table weight limits. ASK... even though such an issue should be obvious based on pre-op evaluation.

At first i was pretty happy with this doctor. However, as time went one i felt more and more like they were doing tests for the sake of doing tests. Eventually they did find an issue that needed to be addressed and i was supposed to get a referral for a diet specialist from St. Rita's and then have a follow up. I had to reschedule because i never got the referral so there was no purpose to the follow up. the reschedule appointment arrived and it was missed due to complications with my wife's labor and complications post delivery with my newborn daughter. I attempted to contact them about these issues and left voicemails and never even got a call back and got charged for a missed appointment, which still served no purpose as they still haven't sent the referral to St. Rita's for my Liver issues and without it i cannot seek further treatment covered by insurance. It's been 2 months or so now... maybe they will send that referral eventually....
