I had my first colonoscopy yesterday at Bend Surgery Center and could not have been more impressed. From the moment I checked in to the moment I left, I knew I was in good hands. Thank you to Dr. Laurel Hartwell (gastroenterologist), Dr. Mike Johnson (anesthesiologist), Kris (pre-op nurse), Sarah (recovery nurse), and the rest of the team for providing incredible care in a kind and supportive way. Highly recommend!

All the employees I interacted with were first rate and very professional except for the billing department. Because I was paying cash for the procedure I was scheduled for, I asked for a good faith estimate for the charges to be incurred by the surgery center. Once I arrived for the appointment for my procedure, I was asked to pay the exact amount of the good faith estimate, which I did. To my surprise, after the procedure was done I received an additional bill for approximately double the cost of the original estimate. More surprising was the rationality for the additional charges. Bend Surgery Center claimed I received additional medical treatment which was outside the scope of the original good faith estimate. However, the Doctor that was actually doing the medical procedure did not charge me an additional fee as part of his good faith estimate. Further, my procedure was a routine medical procedure and went smoothly without any unplanned time requirements or additional resources needed to complete the procedure. Upon me disputing the bill, Bend Surgery Center decided the appropriate response was to send my bill to collections. So be careful with good faith estimates from Bend Surgery Center, in my case the estimate was not honored even though the procedure I was undergoing was a standard procedure that went smoothly resulting in the most likely outcome within the scope of the procedure.

Check in time was excellent. Barbie got my chart together and on my way quickly. We were greeted by the nurse Beth who prepared me for my procedure. She was kind, friendly, competent, and professional. I was greeted by both the anesthesiologist and the doctor. When I was taken to the OR, they were very accommodating for my comfort, etc. All in all, everyone did an excellent job and I certainly appreciate your professionalism. Thank you thank you

This was my first time at the surgery center since moving to Central Oregon. To say I was beyond impressed with the staff is an understatement. Their kindness was over the top! My anesthesiologist/the Medical Director was such a kind man and so helpful. The nurses were beyond helpful as well (Peter, Taletha and Bentley)! Plus others popping in! My Dr., Dr, Bagwell was also kind and very thorough!

Dr. Thomas Fitzsimmons: Dr. Fitzsimmons was so thorough in reviewing everything with me and made me feel incredibly comfortable throughout the process. I’m extremely grateful for the time he took to ensure I understood everything and felt supported. The facility itself is top-notch, reflecting the center’s commitment to excellence in patient care. I wholeheartedly recommend Bend Surgery Center to anyone seeking high-quality, compassionate medical care.
