I saw Dr Trek Lyons last week. Getting an appointment was easy. I called and was in three days later. Dr Lyons is one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen. He diagnosed me immediately ( after seeing two other doctors who had no idea what was wrong) He gave me a treatment plan, explained things thoroughly, was really smart, a great story teller and just all around nice guy. If I could give 10 stars I would.

I am still in the process of receiving care here. I did have an issue with Receiving a surgery and folks should know before attending an appointment that they can refuse to operate for certain things if you use nicotine products. I was able to quit in order to recieve care, but I wished someone would have forwarned me that it may be an issue. Hopefully this helps someone so that their care may not be delayed as mine was.

Expect the terrible service you get when a company has a monopoly in an area. Terrible communication, terrible scheduling, staff doesnt call back, and their help for extreme pain is "your doctor is out until next Tuesday and his staff is busy. Take Tylenol and advil." I literally couldn't use my arm, but Tylenol will fix it. Unbelievable!! They only care about the U of O athletes. Everyone else is treated like garbage.

AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN! I was referred here due to hip pain that was so severe I was unable to sleep or eat. I made the appointment, and filled out the forms, including my medication allergies, and current diagnoses. They put the wrong medical allergies in my chart! The treatment was "friendly" but in the most sterile way possible when it came to reception and getting directions to the right location. I was taken back for an x-ray, and then put in a room. Right off the bat, red flags started screaming at me as I read the posters on the back of the door about pain scales (something that is 100% subjective and should never be treated as "if x then y" across the board) as they had some of the most gaslighty levels of statements on them that left me wondering if these providers had ever worked with someone who dealt with high levels of pain/chronic pain or who were high masking in any form. Outright telling a patient (via poster) that a doctor is likely to not believe them if they act a certain way while claiming a certain pain level is positively disgusting and screams unprofessional when it comes to working with patients who deal with high levels of pain. The provider came in, and I immediately felt like I was being rushed by how she talked to me. I felt like I was an inconvenience for coming in, as if I was just there to waste time. I was asked about doing physical therapy, to which I stated that yes, I was doing physical therapy exercises, however I had just gotten a new physical therapist due to having moved, and we were doing a full evaluation at the time to see what would work best for me. I was asked where the pain was, and I pointed to the iliac crest of my pelvis. The provider informed me that that was my "lower back" and not my hip, despite me pointing to, again, my iliac crest which is part of the pelvis (also known as the HIP), which let me know right then that I was not going to be listened to in any way. My weight got brought up, and I stated I had gone from weighing around 260-270lbs in August of 2024, to 228lbs as of the day of the appointment. I stated I was far more active than I used to be (prior to the pain becoming what it had), and that I was recovering from two eating disorders. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR LATER. The provider told me that the x-rays looked normal (ok, cool?) and had me lie down so she could check my hip joint. After the exam, she told me surgery wasn't an option, and I even stated I wasn't wanting surgery, I just wanted to know WHY I was in so much pain, and WHY it was hurting where it was hurting (she did not check where I was saying it was hurting, since it wasn't part of the "hip"). I tried to go over why I came in, but again, the constant feeling of being an inconvenience and being rushed would not go away, and so I just tried to ask what I felt were the most important questions. All I got back was "I can give you a steroid shot" and "You need to do physical therapy" (cool...not helpful...already knew this stuff) I agreed to the shot at half the dose due to what steroid shots do to my blood sugar, and the provider didn't even wait until the lidocane had taken effect before she began sawing the steroid shot into my hip joint, but AGAIN, the feeling of being rushed just screamed at me during this time, so I just did my best to breathe through it and get through it. The shot caused me over a week of pain in that hip, for maybe a day or two of relief for one area, so it was definitely not worth it with how it was administered. When I went and saw my doctor for my yearly, I saw the chart notes from the provider at Slocum, where she stated I had said I was NOT doing my PT, meaning she or her transcriptionist lied in my chart notes (or just didn't bother to actually listen to me). This told me right away I would never come back. This week, I received some "patient education" about having a "high BMI" and recommended diet and exercise. Remember how I'm recovering from 2 eating disorders and lost 50lbs in a year? Yeah...NOT PROFESSIONAL IN THE SLIGHTEST. Also, the BMI in 2025?
