I wish I could give the Kaiser system NW a better review. This is for all kaiser in Portland. Not just interstate. Access to the medical care/appointments is simply awful . It is frustrating and makes me feel unsupportive. When kaiser commercials pop up and they talk about how great and compassionate they are, my eyeballs roll up into the eyeball sockets. One day I am sure they will get stuck there. Example, today I went to schedule some appointments. My physician wanted me to schedule a follow up appointment in person or virtual in 3 weeks. Nothing available for 6 weeks. Mammogram 3 months. Cardiology follow up 'nothing available at this time', Appointment for low back injection "Nothing available at this time". What is the point of having medical insurance if you cant use it? To my doctor I would give a 5 star review. It took a while to find a doctor that would listen and work with me but I did and she is awesome (when I get an appointment), I would also give 4- 5 stars for the majority of physicians and employees that I was actually able to schedule with. (dont get me started on the cookbook medicine approach) Kaiser has good people but a crappy system
At my previous appointment with Dr. Cohen-Tanugi, we discussed the option of an in-office procedure to address the issue of Dupuytren's Contracture affecting my left hand. During the 12/7 visit, Dr. Cohen-Tanugi performed an ultrasound to determine which fingers were eligible for non-surgical treatment. Dr. explained that the pinkie finger was the only candidate for the needle procedure. I felt that the result was the best result, given the condition of my fingers. Today, I have more mobility in the pinkie. Additionally, my left hand seems more flexible, in general. I appreciate Dr. Cohen-Tanugi's ability to make the process understandable. He takes time to be congenial, and then gets down to business. Making appointments with his office was effective.
They have a revolving door, an elevator, and offices. It definitely met my expectations for a doctor's office. In fact, they have many offices in one building. The staircase has carpet on the stairs which was a really nice touch. Would definitely visit again if I had a doctor's appointment. Didn't get 5 stars because of the ambience and the food options but lots of people were there so I can tell doctor's offices are having a moment right now.
Dr. Foege is extremely skilled at administering my cervical epidural steroid injections. He's the only provider that I will allow to do this procedure. I don't know what I'd do if he ever left Kaiser. His team is also wonderful. They treat me with respect and kindness every visit. Thank you all for your excellence.
I was seen on 11/4/25 by Dr. Jean B. Ross MD. Right away she was attentive, proactive, listened, truly observed me, and thoroughly examined me, and got all necessary and presumptive lab results to rule anything out and identify what is actually going on inside my body. She knew exactly how to treat it and what to do in my specific situation which happened to include factors making some traditional treatment methods more difficult. She did everything she could to make me comfortable and offered a transfer to the ED if I felt like I could not take appropriate care for myself at home. I felt comfortable going home so I made that choice. The most surprising compassionate moment came when in the middle of a busy day, a new day, new patients, took the time to remember me and called me this morning to check on me and see how I was doing. I let her know that her treatments were helping my physical symptoms but I could not retain any food or water. Everything came right back up. She mentioned she was worried about this and then asked if I was able to come back in to get some fluids. I came back upon her request and got the fluids I needed. I feel so much better after that. I still have pneumonia, but it feels much more tolerable. Her compassionate care and careful attention is the reason why I am functioning at a normal level right now. Because of her help, I am able to drink sips of water over time and eat small amount of soft or puréed food without vomiting it back up. Because of her help I am able to take care of myself and feel the best that I can going through this. I am extremely grateful for Dr Jean B. Ross MD and all the staff that helped on 11/4/25 and 11/5/25. They are all outstanding!! But Dr. Ross deserves a special thanks and deserves public and peer appreciation on how dedicated she is to patients she does not care for on a regular basis. She is extremely kind, caring, and immediately knows how to build a great rapport with patients. She is detailed in her charting, ensuring accurate information and adding addendums when new information is available or if there is any follow up that took place. She went above and beyond any physician I have ever met (and I have met a lot within the Kaiser network) and she is the most outstanding provider I have ever met. I wish she worked in primary care because I would switch to her in a heart beat. She is willing to do what it takes to ensure her patients have the best care and best prognosis. I cannot thank her enough. I was seen by my primary doctor for this the day before seeing Dr. Ross. I was barley examined, and only ordered a basic strep A test. But it was the dedication to patient care, being actually caring and compassionate and empathetic for patient outcomes. Thinking about what obstacles they face not being in a medically monitored facility. She thinks about how the treatment I receive here will impact how I am able to sleep, work, eat, drink fluids, be in a clean safe environment and guidance on promoting good ways to have a good healing environment outside of the medical center. Dr Ross deserves direct praise from peers and her leadership team. I wish I could give her a raise or a bonus or a reward myself. She is very deserving of something very special to reward and celebrate the work she does and the positive impact she has on Kaiser Permanente and the community that she serves. Please whoever reads this please please make sure she gets some kind of reward or something physical to commemorate the good name she gives Kaiser and her hard work and dedication to the Interstate Urgent Care department. Please!!! She needs to be recognized!!!
